Gangplank is in a really bad place these days. He's supposed to be a top-lane bruiser but can't go toe-to-toe with any of the usual top-laners because he has squishy base stats and low base damage.

The only viable path is Bankplank, where Avarice is your first item and you max Q farm. Your goal is to get an IE, Gauntlet, and Shiv as quickly as possible. Only then do you start to become a threat, but the game may already have been decided by that point.

If you want to not feed in lane, you need to max W or you die in lane Q is like an afterthought tho bankplank is legit

Except that build is weak Rush Avarice, Triforce, IE, IE, IE, Finish Shiv

With this build it will be 406 AD +120 Ability Damage and 90% Crit Chance 526 x 2.88 = 1514 + 288 Shiv + 208 Triforce = 2010 Damage

2010 x 1.02 Double Edge Sword x 1.03 Havoc = 2111

Max W for sustain it's man cost does not increase wheras Q does

Start crystalline and pots, live in lane forever - have TP

Rush Avaarice+sheen freeze wave at tower and just farm with Q, use ult to repulse dives and aquire free kills/assists across the map

Build
Avarive->sheen->IE->trinity->shiv-Avarice->youmous-> Frozen mallet Get CDR boots with furor

You have great crit chance and damage, a bit of health, some nice CDR for more Qs some armor pen, a passive for chassing and your Q kiting is hilarious
