@Rioter who want Lux buff explain why Lux even deserve to get a buff.

People think this is a april fools prank and I thought so too but then Riot reverted the katarina piss of joke level 3 ult cool down, that is when i realize that this is legit and Lux is probably going to get a buff and this is going to go through the PBE.

Of all the other mids that are falling behind Lux is not one of them, her ult cool down is low her damage is EXTREMELY high and the travel distance is non existence. Ezreal/Jinx/Ashe has ult that travel and the best part is they all have lower damage then Lux ult and you have a chance to dodge it. Once you get rooted then don't even flash or do anything because the sec she blast that ult off you are 80% certainly dead and if no then she will auto you to proc spark insuring a 5% add on to the 80%. (This is with her combo root>slow>Ult>auto).

She is one of the most safest if not long distance AP mid in the game, the only one that can really close the gap is Fizz or leblec and even with that she can root them down if they get into her danger zone.

Azir Diana Fiddlesticks Karthus Kassadin Lissandra Malzahar Velkoz Zyra TwistedFate deserve to be buff way more then Lux even come close to being the one up for a buff. I check and her winrate is not high but her Kill over death by many players is high unless they go Lux support, so it's probably her team not doing well but 75% of the time her ratio is a large margin of kill over death.

So I just want to know WHY Lux is the one that deserve this buff. If her ult had travel time like Ezreal then I'm all cool with her getting this buff it's cool, but It's not COOL AT ALL when her ult can instantly ult off giving you little notice to non thanks to the little animation time with her ult + her ult width. When she root then it is 100% non dodgable unless some one take clense but that doesn't stop her slow to make it out in time.

Like I said If it was a April fool joke then why did they revert the Katarina 15 sec ult cool down?

Your a Lux main aren't you?< Just a question.

I used to be.

When her targets can't be bursted down (and it doesn't take much in the way of hybrid itemization for that to happen), her weakness that is highly telegraphed and poor sustained damage becomes quickly apparent.

She would actually be in a decent place if she got about a 300 range bonus for attacking targets afflicted by Illumination, if triggering an Illumination triggered all Illuminations, if her W achieved the full effect from one hit, and her W also gave her a modest speed boost. A buff to her R doesn't change much.

In all fairness, if it is an April Fool's joke, it's pretty early.

Consider looking around for Riot's comments on things, particularly Meddler's Quick Gameplay Thoughts. You'd be surprised what you can learn when you pay attention to Riot posts.

Pffft I lol at Meddler saying she doesn't do well in high elo. In what elo does he mean by high because if you look at high elo player who play Lux they have a extreme rate of being 4.0 over death ratio all the time. Seems like a stupid buff he does not go into the reasons of the weak point, he says

provide more power when used well, less that's pubstompy.

Wtf is that suppose to mean? her ult is 80% a insure kill if she combo with her ability which she does. Provides more power? when her ult is already powerful and less on pubstompy? what? Explain this so called "pubstompy" if her cool down was higher then then one she has now it would be fine but they are buffing her even though her ult has a low cool down + 40% cooldown reduction which all Lux build this path and now a 50% refund cool down?

Firstly, I can't personally say anything about Meddler's comment on Lux's performance in high elo - I don't pay attention to high elo play, I don't play Ranked, and even if I did I'd probably come up in mid-elo at very best. So, considering my disinterest at higher levels of play, I can only agree to disagree, and readily understand that Meddler knows better than me about the subject.

As for what he means by "provide more power when used well, less that's pubstompy", I'd imagine he means something that, like he said, is mastery-based and difficult to execute. Sure, it is hypothetically possible for Lux with that buff to chain together innumerate Final Sparks on cooldowns parallel to immobile high-damage champion's defensive abilities, but the probability of that actually happening would probably roughly be one-in-twenty chance. Often enough that it makes Lux intimidating, but scarcely enough to be impressive and not overpowered - but that's only my take on it.

As for explaining "pubstompy", my guess is that it'd be something that's just so powerful that it holds every teamfight in the champion's favor - you can't fight with that champion alive, because they'll just wreck you and your team. And, in my opinion, the cooldown refund on kill is at least a good example of "power without pubstomp" - Lux can re-cast her ult quicker, but it's unlikely that it'll turn every teamfight into a lost cause because of one person getting caught out and bursted.

As for going into the math on it, I don't know for sure how it works, but I'm at least confident enough to guess that it would go something like;

(CD - %CDR) - %CD Refund = Remaining Cooldown. Or, with actual numbers (let's say base CD is 100 seconds, but she has 45% CDR and 30% CD refund on-kill) (100 - 45) = 55 - 18 = 37. Is that an extremely small cooldown for a high-damage Ultimate ability? Yes. But, this example should be taken with a grain of salt, since it doesn't (as far as I know) use any exact cooldown based on ability level, and assumes that the player has built full CDR with appropriate Masteries.

Regardless of inconsistencies to actual gameplay expressed on my part, there is still a fair enough window to retreat and wait for a more favorable teamfight - a window that I'm certain anyone in high elo would jump on, and that most people in low elo's won't have to react to.

But, this is not to be taken as me advocating for this buff; I myself have a few issues with it, some of which match the community consensus - her ult cooldown is low enough already, it doesn't need to be lower. But, I still trust that Riot knows better than me, which also brings me to something you seem to have completely ignored:

"Not sure yet if the ult partial refund on kill's the way we'll do that yet, though excitement from players using it has been high relative to the amount of power it actually offers." - Quoted from Meddler, same Gameplay Thoughts I just linked prior.

They're not 100% on shipping it to live, but it's got a fair probability, since they've seen positive reactions to the buff. That must mean something, at the very least, but I still have to reiterate: Just because it's on the PBE doesn't mean it'll ship to live. Riot may find something else to buff Lux with for higher-tier play, but that kill-refund looks like an attractive prospect.

I hope this response covers everything it needed to and more.
