Don't complain about these champs.

  • Yasuo 42.65% win rate in solo queue (lowest)
  • Nidalee 42.86% win rate in solo queue (2nd lowest)
  • LeeSin 45.29% win rate in solo queue
  • Syndra 49.21% win rate in solo queue
  • Khazix 50.4% win rate in solo queue

Wait, so Yasuo is a shit champion and is weak now?

When did this happen?

When did this happen?

Since you only have 43% chance to win when you pick him?

It happened when Riot nerfed pretty much every part of his kit over about half a dozen patches.

This. They couldn't decide to just change him, so they had to nerf instead.

His base stats were not the actual problem with his kit, so riot threw out a band-aid nerf instead,

This line of reasoning would only be valid if all champions were picked in the same context. To demonstrate -

  • If a champion is first picked in draft more often than usual, their win rate will reflect their ability to win games against bad matchups.

  • If a champion is frequently played by people who are bad at that champion (coughLeeSincough), their win rate will reflect their ability to win games in incompetent hands.

  • If a champion is frequently chosen as a counterpick (Rammus against full AD, Kayle against Zed, etc.), their win rate will reflect their ability to win games in situations where they have favorable matchups.

  • If a champion is very infrequently picked, their win rate will reflect their ability to win games against people who don't know the lane matchup.

  • If a champion is played in multiple positions, their win rate will reflect their composite performance in all of those positions.

  • If a champion is commonly built poorly, their win rate will reflect their ability to win games with a shitty build

...and so on and so forth. So, unless you've got data that demonstrates whether any of those things are factors in a champion's win rate and the degree of effect they have, win rate will remain useful for little more than misleading gullible people on the internet and getting hits on your site.

the winrate represents all of those factors at once and its the same for every champion,

ofc the problems like lee sin exists (total crap everywhere besides lcs) but they are minority and well easy to notice when you judge a champion so winrate can give you a rough idea of how much champion comp[etes to the win compared to other champions

To exactly the same degree for every champion?

'Cause if not, my point stands.

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

your point stands but not as strong as you think

the estimation is always rough, but you cant say that winrate does not represent champions power at all, nor that its 100% accurate representation of champions power

Pretty much. Which is why it's ridiculous that so many people just point to win rate and say 'OP' or 'Trash' without further explanation. Like, I agree that Nid, Yas and Lee are pretty shit champions, but their win rate has absolutely nothing to do with why they're shit champions.

their winratte has nothing to do with them being weak but their winrate is a result, if you cant pinpoint the problem you can use the winrate argument (still sounds quite stupid because its a winrate argument)

i personaly would love to see yasuo ballanced (love the concept ) because riot just trashes him from left to right (i personaly think that yasuo was always a problem because his damage is too high, yet i loved the rest of his kit, riot put their main trashing there and it had no effect, now they trashed him for good i think, still ill play that bastard once the banrate drops)

... I still do very well on him... (Ignore my ranked stats. Picking mid and being forced top isn't good for anyone.)

I dunno, he has everything he needs to carry and I rarely see him fail on his own. It's usually the whole team failing... I mean, he's not OP except for his stupid as fuck mobility in team fights, but he isn't a shit champion unless you're a shit player playing him.

12tales2 votes

The problem is that, like Jax, his base stats are so low that it's incredibly difficult to get to the point where you can carry. A lategame Yasuo is still terrifying, sure, but so is a late game Poppy - you've got to get to that point, and the nerfs to his Passive, E and base stats make it really difficult to do that reliably.

It remains hilarious that people want to ban the champ with the lowest winrate in the game.

Just like Leblanc who was statistically terrible outside of the LCS and people whined that Riot are incompetent because they "allowed her to be game breaking" and then when Riot dariused her to stop the whining, people whined that Riot are incompetent because they "nerfed a 46% winrate champ".

Think of it this way. yasuo is considered op, so all these people are gonna jump allover him. a ton of them being people that are not good at this game, and think picking the "op" champ will give them free wins. they proceed to get destroyed.

Then you have someone like galio, who most people consider sub-par, except those that know how to use him. not a lot of people will flock to him thinking it'll be a free win, so more of the people that use him are people that know what they are doing with him.

Almost all champs that are considered op have their win rates drop. Also when a champ starts to stomp, people figure out its counters faster.

Win rates doesn't equal balance...what your examples show me is these high skilled champions are being picked and played by low skilled summoners...I don't think any of these champs are OP...just strong picks and very annoying...

Raptamei1 votes

Win rates doesn't equal balance...

Solo queue win rates don't equal competitive balance, but they indicate how likely they are to win a solo queue game, which is all that matters when you play solo queue games.

I often ban who counters my champion the hardest, then I ban who I hate, followed by who I generally think will cause problems.

I like Katarina mid, so I almost always ban either Yasuo or Fizz as they both are stupid to lane against as Kat. At least I know I can deal with a Viktor or Xerath and potentially destroy them mid-late game. Same with virtually any caster really...

Zed is another one, but most people suck on him and don't really beat me with him.

syndra's borderline op and lee sin is OP <overplayed> how about jumpin off his groin area.

Cerbearus1 votes

I nerf champions I do not want to play against, plain and simple. I ban Lee because if I didn't, he would be in EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN GAME. That fucker is like the plague.

Now give us win rates for each tier.
