Is finishing Support Items worth it?

I don't play support often, but I'm starting to feel finishing the support (gold) items is a waste of time and money. I know the supports role is to babysit the team, so I usually get the tier 1 item to start, then rush sightstone. After that though, I REALLY get the urge to just ignore upgrading these and go for other things like a over or over .

This is usually because I don't trust my teammates. I try to play the role well by not taking cs or try to feed the kills to my team; but a lot of the time, I just watch what they're doing and go, "My teammates are fkn stupid. Why are they fighting when outnumbered or going all-in when the enemy has full health?".

Are these upgrades really worth it?

You spend 2100 on , yet it takes so long for you to make that gold up. Imo, this item is only good for the mana regen, CD, and MS active. So if I was playing as , wouldn't it be better if I get a Morello instead so I do more damage with Q and hope that my team follows up?

just keep the second upgrade of the support item and keep it till you have finished your build. afterwards you can replace it with an better item! That's what im always doing and it works really good!

Unless you're going the item 3401 route, sitting on Spellthief's and eventually selling it for a Talisman is probably your best best.

item 3096 item 3098 are rarely worth it and shouldn't be built until after Sightstone/Mobos.

I generally sell the mid support item for a real one later if I get the support item at all. My personal feelings are that if you are doing well, you can afford better and it's holding you back. If you are doing poorly then they don't give you the extra stats you need.

At least at my elo I feel that aside from sightstone, they are minor trap items.

item 3069 is obviously worth. You wouldn't buy this chain if not to get the awesome active.

item 3092 is a pretty low priority. The active is k but not great, and the cost for stats is not awesome. Even item 3098 is not obviously worth.

item 3401 is situationally good for cases where you need maximum protection for your ADC. You'll almost always buy item 3222 first though.

With item 3069 any champion can disengage or engage for their team, always worth the money- no complaints item 3401 also always worth it, great active for a tank support, and provides some early sustain in lane (though the gold gen is pretty sad early) I never complete the item 3092 , but i always buy the item 3098 and sell it if i ever need the last item spot The extra gold gen provides over item 3303 will pay for itself by like 20 mins, so why not? Especially when playing a good poke support like the item is made for, the bonus damage it adds is noticeable. Usually when i sell my very late game, it has generated about 1600g for me

I honesty buy the 500g upgrade and leave it at that. If I get into a full build situation, I sell the 500g updgrade and buy a better item. Then I finish off sightstone upgrade last.

I dont now about the other two but I all was get FotM. The active come in hand more then you think. The states giving are not to bad as well.Plus a few time the passive had same some one live after lane.

If I still haven't upgraded item 3098 by 15 minutes I don't finish it; it's not that worth it imo.

If you go coin, always complete it, and at least by your second item. The coin line has minimal value outside of the active. Face of the Mountain can be a good buy because the defensive utility is something that is quite powerful when you finish the item, and the upgrade is pretty efficient. Frost Queen's can be a good upgrade under two circumstances. First, if you really need the peel, then complete it. Second, if you are involved in clearing minions before fights, then getting it so the gold generation procs don't deactivate is a good idea. You should always get the second tier item for any of these, after sightstone.

Usually after building item 2049 , it's ok to build your next item in whatever you like, since vision granting is all I care for a support's job. It's also okay if you want to stop at tier 2 gold items, like item 3097 item 3098 item 3096 . I usually upgrade it to tier 3 if I have excessive gold, or my team needs that little extra line of defence.

In case of Morgana, build item 3157 after item 2049 , or grab a item 3028 then if you're too worried about early mana shortage.
