Why do we buff abilities that matter and ones that don't damage wise.

So jinx is too strong right now right?. overbuffed. few patches ago. her ult and Q as got buffed. which both are damage sources exclusively. now on the pbe. her E damage. the chompers is getting nerfed. how chompers. don't scale with ad. and are not used to deal damage.

lets go back even more. mf ulti during the ad rework. got buffed in many ways. more waves. higher ad ratio. and it has longer duration.

when they realized mf was too strong. they nerf her E. again. a skill that isn't used for damage and scales with ap. instead of nerfing what makes her over the top. they nerf something else just to call it a nerf.

i can get even more examples. irelia. got buffed. and triforce buffs. mainly she got an extra 0.2 ad ratio buff on her Q. they realized thats too strong. they nerfed her ult. which after a while isn't really much of damage source rather than sustain and waveclear.

fiora was too weak because of the W cd nerf. guess what. we better give her more damage on her Q instead of reverting that cd nerf.

people actually wonder where damage creep is coming from? its mainly this.

thats not a good way to balance your champions.

If I recall, there was a post a good while ago about them wanting to commit to their mentality of "improving strengths, exacerbating weaknesses"

Xerath for instance, whenever he gets nerfed (last change I can remember was his E stun duration going down at close range), always gets a buff towards his intended strengths (in the same patch, the maximum stun duration went UP for long ranges).

Jinx's intended weakness is being unable to escape unless she picks up a kill, so following this mentality, it would make sense to make it harder for her to escape (increasing the cost of her main defensive tool, and to a less important extent lowering its damage), do I think its enough? Nope, not really; but thats the best explanation I've got for it.

On a side note, haven't several pro players said Jinx is pretty bad despite her high statistics? Could've been another reason they buffed her.

to pro players any adc that isn't too strong early game or has no mobility is bad.

Miss Fortune's E was nerfed because people were maxing it first, and it synergized stupidly with Thunderlord's Decree. Having a large AOE 300 base damage spell with a slow attached that got even more powerful with more points in the spell made trading with MF impossible
