luden's echo versus deathcap
Recipe: Needlessly Large Rod item + Aether Wisp + 650g = 3100g Grants 120 ability power and 7% movement speed. Unique Passive: At 100 charges, the next instance of ability damage you deal will expend all charges to deal 100 (+15% AP) bonus magic damage. Area of effect abilities will only apply the bonus damage to a maximum of 4 enemies, prioritizing champions.
deathcap: rod + blasting wand + 840 = 3300g 120 AP. unique passive: grants ability power equal to 30% AP.
on a single spell (100% AP ratio spell): 100 +15% AP = 30% AP 100 = 15% AP 100 = 666.6 AP for it to be equal conclusion luden's is THE best AP poke item in the game, ziggs, TF, Xerath, lux. and not only that it also spreads like stattik shiv does, meaning later on it still probably more valueble, since you only hit one person with a spell, and then it spreads out amongst 3 other people. also consider that the spells those champions use to poke are not 100% ap ratio's, they are 55 for tf's, 60% for ziggs and dont know the others, meaning you need even more AP for deathcap to be more efficient than luden's
in a burst rotation death cap can be seen as a 30% boost to all of your champions ratio's so on leblanc for example who has a stupid combined ratio 80 60 130 = 270% AP ratio (not including chains at all)
30% of 270 = 81.
100 + 15% AP ratio = 81% AP ratio 100 = 66% 100 = 150 ability power. so for leblancs burst without chain she needs 150 ability power for deathcap to be more effecient at bursting people than luden's, or 2 d ring and deathcap (the passive has already been used earlier so no; just deathcap is not effective unless you have runes and masteries for 30 AP).
DFG amplified all magic damage to the source, including base damage and DFG also had a 15% max health just there because fuck the target.
in conclusion, Luden's is not an item for burst mages, do not pick it up prior to deathcap, it is for immobile poke mages, granting them more MS, more wave clear and more poke.
if this is riot's idea of a new DFG they are very wrong.

ahri, game breaking item alongside ult. ABORT ABORT. nah im kidding, i dont know how many units her ult goes, is it 700 each one? either way she will be one of the few people to get multiple charges out of it in a short teamfight, the other one is Fizz and katarina.
this item is pretty fantastic on katarina, her ratio's outside of ult are really poor 45 15 25 40 =125 and she is really mobile she also has no mana problems, so this is an item she can rush, she needs something like 400 AP for deathcap to be better without ult in a teamfight, and when you cosnider that everyone should be CC'ing her out of it instantly she will only get 1 or 2 ticks off. obviously if there is no CC / slow CC then deathcap all the way.
"this isn't even a question", why would i ask a question i know the answer to, and yeah i agree that mages will always get both, i am just saying that AP mages are better off getting luden's THEN deathcap, while burst champions are better off with deathcap and then zhonya's since they will more than likely be up in their face.
i also never thought about DoT champions, malzahar E really does greatly benefit from it, as does brand passive, cassiopeia and mordekaiser ult, fizz W.
