Do others feel that making zeal getting 20% crit chance has proven to be too much?

I could have understood 15% crit chance with 20% attack speed which would still have been a buff in stats for zeal for a bit of a gold cost increase. No one would have likely found much issue with a change like that.

But given the clear dominance of marksmen across the board be it top, mid, their standard position bottom and evne Jungle to some degree it would suggest that their items are in fact the real problem since it is far more of a class issue then it is an individual champion issue.

The silver linning with 20% over lower values is that RNG has much less to do with how a fight turns out concerning higher levels of crit chance than it does with lower levels.

2% crit chance can be infuriating with it's capacity to win an early trade in lane just because RNJesus was smiling on a particular player, where with 20%: those crits are going to be a lot more reliable and predictable.

Also: as crazy as marksman are being in-general, it's not really the AA focused marksman that actually heavily rely on crit that are ever really causing any issues season to season. More often than not you have caster marksman like Ezreal Corki Graves ruining things for everyone. Which is kind of awkward considering you'd expect good attack-damage-carries to, well, attack for most of their damage rather than being AD mages.

To make things more awkward: the most AA reliant marksman in KogMaw is running the hybrid item item 3124 for the bulk of his damage.

Can't say Zeal and %AS marksman items offering solid crit chance in components is breaking the game, so much as it's allowing more balanced marksman that actually do what you'd expect to be worthwhile picks in comparison to the top-tier marksman dominating the scene.

I personally wish crit was just completely removed and replaced with a constant exponential damage stat instead. Basically what was done with Ashe in making an item giving 30% crit chance increase her damage by 30% instead of 30% chance t o do double damage. Infinity edge would increase this stat by 50% so the functionality of it would be the same overall just more predictable.

But that is a slightly different topic. This is more about the huge dominance of marksmen in general across the board and how they are individually getting nerfs because items are proving to be too good on them. So many of the issues could be fixed with reducing crit on Zeal items and slightly increasing attack speed, making Sterak's shield based on bonus health instead of total health, and making mercurial scimitar not have life steal and lower the AD by 10 to 15 with say a 300 gold cost reduction to make up for it being really good for escaping things.

Basically make them an option to deal with a problem at a cost of not doing as much damage. That is how builds will best be diversified.

Trade-off is still one of the things I fine lacking in a number of items currently. There is no trade off in damage when getting mercurial scimitar over bloodthirster and that is a problem and no real incentive to get bloodthirster with bloodlust and mercurial scimitar giving all that someone would ever really need for life steal.

There's a lot of problems with ADCs right now, I'd certainly agree this is one of them.

The others are

  • ADCs get the best defensive item in the game item 3139
  • ADCs have amazing options for itemisation at all points in the game, item 1055 is the best starting item in the game, item 3508 gives good stats by itself and scales way too well at what it does, item 3031 still gives ADCs the best late game of any class but item 3036 really pushes them over the edge.
  • Warlords is just absurdly dumb. It basically allows ADCs to ignore lifesteal without actually paying the consequences for doing so.
  • ADCs individual balance is just terrible. I don't understand how champs like Graves and Corki were given the OK by Riot.

The most oppressive ADCs don't need crit items - Graves, Quinn, Corki, EZ. Graves and Quinn usually build semitank with stuff like Death's dance+ Steraks. Corki (Trinity + AD), EZ - Iceborn + AD.
