it just feels really bad to play against champs like riven, zed, ect once they build a lifesteal item or 2. maybe they could stop putting craploads of AD on these items and make them more AS heavy or something. it's very reminiscent of why vladimir is the reason spellvamp sucks for everyone else.

Manaless champions tend to have terrible innate defense/sustain in exchange for the fact that Lifesteal is unbiased.

Can people please stop misunderstanding what I wrote?
They have "terrible innate defenses" is what I said.
Zed has a good bit of mobility--albeit totally telegraphed--and a 0.75 second untargetability on his ultimate for defense. Riven has a 1.5-second shield. Yes, it scales on her AD, but it is short-lived and not stronger than your average AP-scaled shield. Yasuo has his passive, 1-second shield for defense, which requires anywhere from 9-17 seconds of constant movement to refresh (yes he can get it back with his ult, I know), and then he has Wind Wall which (a) doesn't obstruct champions and (b) doesn't block about half of the ranged spells in League, because it specifically blocks projectiles.
They're not defenseless, but what they have is a situational burst of self-defense and their mobility.

CC is not explicitly defensive, and neither is mobility. Her shield lasts 1.5 seconds. Yes, that's long enough to block damage. No, that's not a consistently powerful defensive effect like, for example, +70-120 Armor/MR for 6 seconds, or a literally permanent shield that gains HP based on the damage you deal. Those are actually good defensive abilities. Hell, all of the longer-lasting shields have better base shield, and their scaling is only lower because AP naturally scales lower than AD.

He can move, he can't take damage. There's a difference between dodgy and tanky. One of them is dependent on how you react to his movements, and the other is something you literally cannot change without expensive items.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it, as am I. Mine disagrees with yours, as whenever I have played against a Riven, Zed or Yasuo, all the damage I could deal to them stuck. It just depended on me actually hitting them.

Also NO CHAMPION IS RESOURCELESS. Zed for starters is limited by Energy. Riven is still limited in her spell slinging by her Cooldowns. And ALL CHAMPIONS are limited by their health pool, regardless if they use it to cast spells or not. Because their health limits their ability to trade and dive.
