How2Ranked (Written by a Silver, but give it a chance?) ^^
TL;DR Before you decide I am completely retarded, I'm silver, I'm not going to pretend I am a god at anything league related, (Except maybe ARAM) But if your are planning to climb ranked in the future, please.
Follow the basic tips. **Don't be overly confident. Don't be toxic. (Blame yourself before others) Don't be negative. (I guess this could be considered toxic) ** Try your best to learn every role enough that if you don't get your preferred role, you can play another one. and for the love of GOD.
DO NOT CALL A LANE AND SAY IF YOU DON'T GET IT YOU WILL FEED.
Like I said, Silver. But I've played since season 2. Not saying I am a good player, or anything. I suck. Going to be completely honest. But being able to climb out of bronze has taught me A LOT about what to do and not to do.
If you're thinking about playing ranked, take into consideration the following:
** Are you a toxic player?**
I ask this because far to often, people rush into ranked (Everyone has done it, even if you don't admit you have) and get angry when their team doesn't perform or do exactly what said player wants them to. (Example; If your an ADC, your team should peel. They might even be trying to, and you just can't tell) that being said, that isn't a reason to start typing in all chat like "OMFG NOOB TEAM CANT EVEN PEEL FOR ADC GG" I think to some extent, everyone is toxic. And its hella easy to be toxic too. Nobody knows who you are, and there is definitely a comfort in knowing your identity is safe and you can be a total jack-ass without anyone being able to stop you. Yeah sure, they could mute you, but a lot of the time, that doesn't happen.
** Have you lost games recently?**
In my opinion, if you are on a normal's win streak, it helps out a lot with ranked mentality. It's almost like building hype. If you look at that match history and see a bunch of wins, you may feel more confident going into a ranked match than you did in previous ranked games.
No, I am not comparing RANKED and UNRANKED. The two are insanely different.
What I am trying to say, however, is if you are on a losing streak of normal's, or even ranked... Stop and take a break, collect your thought's, and go for it again in an hour or so, when you've had time to settle down and think about why you lost.
Its easy to take the mindset that you are perfect, and all your plays are FLAWLESS. But unless you are literally somehow hacking the game code, your plays never will be. It all goes back to being toxic. Think before you type that sentence to your jungler after a failed gank.
** Are you confident in yourself?**
Obviously, confidence is a huge part in any ranked game. Being confident has both a negative and positive side to it, though.
Being overly confident is a risky thing, because you may make a huge misplay, and that's no fun :( . But being non-confident in yourself is just as bad. Don't just assume your opponents are better than you no matter what. Assume you are at the very least, on the same skill level.
A lot of people may disagree with this, but I find whenever I play like my opponent could wreck me at any time, I tend to under perform. By that, I mean that I play way safer than I need to, and tend to not go for some risky trades that may put me ahead. Obviously playing risky isn't what you always want to do, but there are times where it needs to be done, and that is what League is all about, making those plays and feeling the satisfaction when you succeed. **(I am not saying to make a play where you will not be able to get something out of it, Do NOT flash under enemy turret, for example, and try to get first blood.) **
Do you fully understand the mechanics of your champions?
By now, you should have a few champions you prefer to play, but can you play them well? Do you know how to dash through walls with Yasuo? Or ward-jump with Lee sin? (< Very basic, but in bronze, a lot of Lee sins don't do it...)
You don't need to know insanely complex mechanics like how to Insec people, but knowing your basics will get you loads further then picking up a champion a few games prior to playing. (But hey, if you learn the mechanics that fast, good for you ^^)
Basically, It all comes down to - "If I need to, can I make a play with MY champion that may determine if I live or die?" Not all champions are capable of this, but most do have a slightly way you can get out of a sticky situation if you are experienced with them.
Lastly; Are you able to adapt and apply?
You may be thinking.. "Dude, your silver wtf do u know"
Not much. But I'd like to think I at least know about what you need to do to be successful in ranked. I know, I'm silver. I wasn't successful, you are thinking to yourself.
I went from being a borderline Bronze 5 player, to a Silver 5 player this season. I started out in Bronze 4, After applying a few of these tips I put here, I was able to see an improvement in not only myself, but my attitude towards the game (Also... myself I guess)
My one question, Is are you able to apply what I wrote here? I obviously missed out on some stuff. Hell, it may be poorly written. But before you go and decide to down-vote it. Try some of the tips, Add your own.
Everyone has a way to climb out of "ELO Hell" Some play one champion, Others play one role, I personally try to use these tips as best as I can.
Anyway. Thank you for your time, And lets make ranked better... Together!
