Cass players: I have a gameplay question for you

Hyrum Graff··2 votes·686 views

Scenario: You hit a Q or W in lane.

How many E's are you able to get in before the poison runs out? How likely is it that you're able to hit another Q or W and keep E-ing?

I don't play Cass, but I'm working on a rework for her, and I need an answer for balancing.

Thank you for your help.

Cass is already 'balanced'. She has a bad early game, but if you know what you are doing, you can destroy the other team late game, single handed. Generally early-mid you can get 2 shots in, late game maybe 3. But what is important is to throw in AA because of the reset so as to maximize damage. I usually press Q again after my second shot of E to ensure that I can continue hitting.

Of course, if you have singed and teemo on your team, then you don't even have to worry about it...

cass is pretty weak right now cause her early game is pretty tough and games rarely go long enough for her to max out her passive

Her mid game is not terrible. Her early game is rough if you have bad positioning and get caught out. Otherwise you can usually hold your own against most mid laners.

This isn't what the rework is about. As I mentioned, I don't play Cass, so as long as she's not OP I don't care how strong she is. However, I know there is a general sentiment that the "snake mage" and "poison mage" feeling was lost in her rework, and I'd like to try my hand at getting her back to that.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Do you mean, E resets your AA timer? Otherwise, I don't understand what you mean.

Or gromp buff. xD

Well considering when you hit your w and they are slowd and still inside poisen, you can hit a lot more in there then with a q. But for q poisen ide say an average of 3 maybe 4 once you get cdr

CDR doesn't affect the number of es you can cast per time interval (unless your referring to chaining qs in which case that isn't clear)

I think you hit 3 but might be able to get four ( not sure) but most times you hit three and they aren't affected by cd when spamming

The maximum you can get off a q is 5 while keeping e CD (Unless your a god), If they start running immediately and have a cc spell then usually 2-3, If they just start running usually 3 or 4-5 if I can hit a second q or w. If I land W on them dead centre a/o they just don't run away then ill usually just all-in and burn a flash/barrier etc.

If you land a Q you can reasonably E three times.

E get's a static cooldown of .5s when it lands and the Q poison is a duration of 3s which occurs on hit. Considering input time and projectile travel time you could E once per cooldown.

Normal pattern is Q -> E -> E -> E -> Repeat until OOM

Miasma is better for teamfights to poison multiple enemies and maintain poison so you can just E without worrying about re-application.

I was wondering because often the theoretical max (5 in this case) is significantly different from what can be practically achieved, what with enemies running away and whatnot.

Seems like everybody agrees that you can consistently hit 3 E's if you hit a Q.

I agree, 3 is the most consistent. However, it also depends on the game-phase. For example, in early game- I am conservative with E since it is so costly and try not to E more than once or twice unless I've landed both poisons on the opponent. However, in general, unless they are tanks, I generally don't need to E more than 3 times though (if I manage to land both poisons on them).

On this note, if you are indeed trying to rework Cassiopeia, is there any chance that you will help her with her mana-issues? Personally, mana management is still tricky, especially in the really early levels. If I disengage from a skirmish or there's an early gank on me, I find that I have barely any mana left - and it's pretty disgusting how hard the energy-based champs can poke me down. Is there any possibility that of increasing E mana regen at least a little (maybe 2% instead of 1.5%)?

I'm on mobile at the moment. I'll respond to this in the morning on my laptop.

I'm going to tackle gameplay first: giving her a new passive to make her feel more like a snake / poison mage.

I don't think I'm going to tackle mana costs because they'll become irrelevant when Riot reworks mana and regen itemization with the mage update.

See my comment here for an explanation of the mana thing.

You can basically just spam it until your Q is off cooldown. After several games you won't even need to count anymore.
