Every time a champion becomes FOTM

Suddenly they're easy and broken

I remember when people said Syndra required skill.

Not denying that she's not a tad overtuned but people should just stop changing their opinion as often as I can make Mordekaiser threads

#Remember one thing about this backwards community: #Everything a pro plays is broken and overtuned.

Why? Easy answer. It's a condition called DOMS. DOMS = Delayed Onset Memory Syndrome

People pay way too much attention what the pros are doing so they can copy the meta and that's not a bad thing at all. We all want to perform better so we follow the popular trends in League which improves our winrates. However, the bad thing is when we stop thinking with our own heads and start only following meta shifts like mindless sheep. We then start to forget that certain champions (even if they aren't meta picks right now) are strong and will completely ignore them for the sake of not being behind the curve with the pace of the game.

In my humblest of opinions, i think Jinx is pretty strong and currently, she hasn't caught on to the meta. So far, no one has given her the attention and we keep ignoring her in favor of those LCS big dick Jhin, Sivir, Caitlyn, Ezreal and Ashe plays. We're literally waiting for a pro to greenlight a champion and their builds so that we can say https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjUqUVrXclE

and eventually say it's broken because it's more reliable than something else at the moment.

Let's not go that far. Some people really don't want to think for themselves, they just let others think for them. That's just being a lazy ass.

Following a trend isn't that bad, especially when it works but let's not forget that there are a lot of other champions out of the meta that are decent picks and that we don't have to wait for a pro player to point us in their direction.

Edge of Daybreak8 votes

Yeah people call almost anything strong skill less. People who say yasuo is braindead usually feed on him same with people who say syndra is easy. Just because something makes you salty doesnt mean it's easy. The only time someone doesnt think a champion is braindead is when they suck or are unpopular.

Aazzlano6 votes

Well see the thing is that when a champion is strong and can outstat you, they usually require no skill at that point. This is especially true in Diamond because people have general mechanics and that's more than what you need to pilot these champions.

Take a champ like Graves. You can have a first time Graves on the enemy team that is 3 tiers worse than you, and they are likely to not only beat you in a fight, but utterly destroy you on your main champ you've played hundreds of games on. You have to use every tool at your disposal perfectly, while they can just run at you and slaughter you. That's because champions like Graves simply have better numbers, significantly better numbers in fact. That does not require any sort of skill and is a big problem with a lot of champions.

Once a champion passes some threshold of strength, it no longer requires skill (or a brain as people will say) in order to succeed with them, since you win with a tenth the effort. The skillfloor is lowered dramatically when a champion is that strong.

You're talking to like a board full of idiots who all circle jerk to whichever what champ.

It still blows my mind that they left Graves so disturbingly broken that you could reach master with him with gold 1 skill.

Implying that Syndra hasn't been able to do that before she became FotM. Like, never, ever. /s

Though the difference is that the masses found that out just now.

Next thing you know people will be saying Azir is easy and broken.

Or Alistar.

flibitydoo2 votes

Alistar actually got some QoL changes to make his combo easier though (particularly in the case of high latency).

Azir on the other hand, was made harder by removal of his E knockup which gave the shurima shuffle a greater room for error

Syndra isn't overtuned, it's just that her counters/champs that can deal with her are undertuned.

Or permabanned. Yasuo

Eh Viktor still exists and Im sure his ban rate is at least in the double digits but I just hate him and don't want to see him. I just wanted to complain about Yas being permabanned

Viktor is op due to his interactions with Rylais. Fix that, you fix Viktor.

My point was Viktor is a pretty solid counter against Syndra who's hasn't been nerfed significantly or at a perma-ban state.

At least I've struggled against all the Viktors I've faced as Syndra.

softest boy3 votes

But she is easier to play than she was. I've been a Syndra main basically since release, and she was a lot harder then than she is now. The W changes made setting up her stuns and ultimate so much easier. Syndra players hardly have to worry about maintaining orbs for her ultimate because it's so easy to land a 7-orb ultimate now.

Your orbs now last longer on the field, and your W can pick up three of these orbs, which basically is a secured stun because there isn't much aiming required. You cannot deny that she requires less intensive skill than before because SHE DOES...

venomous frost2 votes

syndra got huge buffs to her ult and stun, she didn't "suddenly" become easy and broken.

I wouldn't call them huge buffs, just made her a bit easier to play, she's been as strong as she is now if you were good at her

venomous frost3 votes

extra balls on her ultimate, and 3 balls on her W to stun, how are those not huge buffs

Wimbledofy8 votes

because they do little to her overall damage and cc. Skilled players before could get 6 balls for ultimate easily and 7 balls sometimes. Now it's just easier to get the full damage on ultimate. It just made it easier to keep her balls out.

Iirc the ball limit was capped with her ult, don't quote me on that though. The W was definitely a buff

Ball limit did not change during the rework, the Transcendent Passive changes did however make it easier to hit the ball limit (seven). However, because the Transcendent passive lost two of its old effects, it wasn't a straight buff. Syndra's winrate dropped a decent bit after the rework and I remember the Boards doing a bit of complaining, so Riot buffed the W and E ratios a few patches later (probably to see if players were just doing poorly because they had no practice on the reworked Syndra or if she was really that underpowered).

wiggywonka2 votes

she didnt get extra balls on her ultimate it was a couple second buff on her balls instead of 15% damage to champs which i consider a slight nerf actually. Her w was a buff but then again this was all in the mage update which was months ago.

wiggywonka30 votes

uh "huge buffs" when? like 6 months ago? she wasnt even mentioned or played until worlds so dont say shes broken

I've always said Syndra took 0 skill and have always stood by that. I dont see the skill in hitting a stun and pressing all your abilities for a free kill at level 6, that part has never changed. People who said Syndra took skill were delusional.

Eh, I think she has some difficult mechanical skill that goes outside outplaying her opponent. The concept of managing her sphere lives while casting other spells in order to set up for a good ultimate was one of the hardest things I had to learn to play Syndra well. I'm still not very good at Syndra. Syndra must also have really good positioning because she's pretty squishy and slow, and good positioning is hard for me when I'm trying to manage sphere timers and also trying to hit my enemy.

Handin Out Naps4 votes

I feel like the sphere timers go into her skill cap a lot more than her skill floor. Frankly she is easy to play, I rarely play her and every time I do I find myself killing my enemy mid laner at lvl 6 and snowballing off of it. Of course she has a skill cap, how high it is is arguable but she is is honestly pretty easy to be successful with.

Stars Shaper1 votes

Syndra is taking her time in the sun mostly because her assa and mage counters are out of the pro-meta.

I mean, a really reactive Yasuo can nullify her ultimate entirely, Xerath and Ziggs just don't care of her, Azir just thinks she is a floating minion and for Zed and Talon she is gold on CD.

I have one nerf for her though: The stun should happen only on the orbs path and not the entire fan.

Overlord Forte4 votes

The stun is tied to each orb that is launched by E. The knockback does not in fact have any stun associated to it -- which is why people can move immediately after being punted by it.
