Given unlimited time and resources, what would you do as punishment to AFKers in ranked?

leaverbuster with a message that player support can assist them if they have connection issues even if they think their internet is fine.

If it's very clearly intentional leaving then it's toxic behaviour so after the leaverbuster a 14 day ban, then a perma if it continues.

find them irl and and ki....ss em and tell them eevrything will be ok and their net will be fixed.

1. Restrict a person for ranked until they play 1 draft/blind pick and mark them as ranked-leavers (occurs multiple times)
2. If they leave even more games they will get a restriction for 15 draft/blind pick games
3. If they leave even more games they will get a restriction for 30 draft/blind pick games
4. Disable ranked queue and rewards for this player until the next season.

Aram and 3v3 are excluded on purpose.

The problem is, what if the person is forced to leave and how often would they have to leave for the restriction to take place?

Monitor the full gameplay (and game chat) with added focus on 1-5+ minutes back leading up to the time they went AFK.

Monitoring will be done by the community where if a player's gameplay received over a specific number (maybe percentage) of negative votes (negative = issue, positive = no issue), RIOT will look into it and if it seems genuine, decide what to do based off of what the community agreed to classify the reason behind the AFK as, as well as their own judgement.

• If they seem to be having connection issues, send them a message offering assistance with connecting to the servers and a warning that if they go AFK again from connection issues, they will be banned from ranked play for a time where if they can play 10 consecutive normal blind/draft games without issue to remove the ban early.

• If it is from an actually IRL issue explained in chat. Forgive them and give half the LP back to them and their teammates if they lost. And null the loss if any were in a series.

  • This will be tracked and if you appear to have a tendency to have these "issues" occur fairly often, you will be warned and if it happens 2 more times within the next few months, they will be banned from ranked play for the remainder of the season because if you can't manage your life well enough to avoid any pressing interruptions for 40 minutes or so, you should not play be playing ranked since it is disrespectful to your unfortunate teammates.

• If it is due to rage quitting, purposely going AFK, being toxic, etc, the game will be put under closer investigation to see the circumstances.

  • If a genuine reason exists for their AFK (a teammate who is obviously intent feeding, other AFKs before them, teammate is greifing them somehow, the game is way beyond recovery and 3 want to FF/open mid but 2 won't due only to their "no surrender" mindset, racism/IRL threats/serious harassment not just competitive banter, stuff like that) then no further punishment is given besides what the lost game gave (or took away) from them.
    • If it is from a teammate or opponent showing racism, making IRL threats, hacking, serious harassment, etc, then that player is punished based on the seriousness of their offense up to perma-ban or legal action if their offense applies (hacking, DDoS, serious shit like that).
  • If they ragequit, then they are warned that if they do it again, they will be banned form ranked for 1 month. If they do it again after their 1 month ranked ban, they are banned for the rest of the season, will not receive any rewards (both in game, like chests and keys, and end of season) and their account is placed under surveillance.
    • If they continue to ragequit in normal queue while banned from ranked (for the season, not for just the 1 month), their account is banned from any queue besides custom games and co-op vs AI for the remainder of the season.
    • If they continue to rage quit after all their bans are up, they are perma-banned and their IP address is permanently blocked.
  • If they are AFK from them being toxic, they will receive a 14 day chat ban and a 1 week ranked ban. Ban will double if it reoccurs within 3 months of initial ban. Anything more and then they will receive a ban for the remainder of that season. Lastly, if it still persists in the next season, perma-ban.
