If I have 100 base damage, and have trinity force, using it's spell blade effect will deal 300 damage.
If I have some crit chance, and roll a crit, will it then do 600 damage?
If I have infinity edge, will it then be, ahm, however much damage that would be with it's bonus?
RiotMeddler2 votesThe attack that Tri Force is modifying can crit, the Tri Force bonus itself won't get increased however.
E.g. Attack of 100 base damage + 30 bonus AD (130). Trinity Force gives a bonus 200 damage on top of that. If that attack's also then a crit it will double the 100 base and the 30 bonus (another 130), for a final total of 460.

dear meddler. I recently purchased a full set of crit dmg+ runes only to hear on the forums that 19 armor pen is better. is this true?

I wouldn't say one is strictly better than the other.
Keep in mind crit damage does make your early game exceptionally weak, but with the right build and/or champion I could see it being better than full flat armor pen.

aaronautumn2 votesonly basic attacks can critically strike, bonus damage and so on do not unless stated otherwise on the tooltip. stattik shiv, for example, says in the tooltip that the bonus damage can critically strike.
