One week Ban protection for New Champs and Reworks

So... I've noticed (probably everyone notices who am I kidding) that new champs and reworks are targets for instaban in draft mode. The fact that I haven't gotten to see Kayn in a match yet is why I'm kinda going into this mini rant. To me this is a nonsensical thing to do. For that matter, it's also the sign of a poor sport, because you know people wanna rush to play the new champ, and you know there's a chance you're being a buzzkill to someone on yours or the enemy team. Some of the common response I get when I request whatever the new champ/rework not be banned.

  • But the new champ is OP. But are they really? You don't know that yet. Even if that is the case, lack of practice and knowledge about them should balance that out.

  • Eh, the new champ isn't even that good. If you think that then let someone on the team have them. We'll have an easy match on our hands.

Even if I am not playing the champ myself I wanna see one of them in action. And no, gameplay videos are not a substitute for this. It's nice to get in a little practice and on hand knowledge when it comes to working with someone playing this champ or how to counter when playing against them.

This is kinda why I want to suggest the idea of protecting new champs and champ reworks from being banned for X amount of time. It doesn't have to be one week, just seemed like a good arbitrary starting point. This would be to Riots benefit as well as ours.

  • Cuts back on players dodging People get mad when they don't get what they want, even more so with a mildly toxic at best playerbase like LoL has. With how little dodging effect you in the long run people are more than happy to wait 5 mins and try again, especially when all they are doing is logging on to try the new champ.

  • Probably have a small impact on tilting players too. Your gonna get the people who try three times to get their champ and finally give up and play something else. Issue is that anger over not getting to play Kayne or the new Urgot or whatever is probably festering, building up inside, and I honestly donh't wanna have to deal with people freaking out over that.

  • You get to learn the ins and outs of the new champ sooner rather than later. Even if you don't play as them, being in game with the champ is more valuable learning experience than just watching a gameplay video I feel.

  • People pay actual money to get the new champs early. I'm not one of these people but I thought I'd mention it. There is a reason only the free currency price is jacked up when a new champ is released. Riot wants to encourage people to pay money to get easier access to the new champ. That potential money maker for Riot might get tilted and not want to spend their hard earned cash in the future if the thing they paid to get access to before everyone else is unavailable to them.

Discuss if you so feel like it.

I say yes for normal draft. Not sure about ranked, only because players are expected to at least know the kit, and while players may be new to any champion they just bought, the morale wouldn't immediately be tarnished.
