Didn't play against lux since a year

i forgot how it was to be poked by a quick projectile that can be explosed while flying, people must have forgotten how it was cancer

Gragas

edit: a lot of people didn't understand that i didn't say she is op, but said that her projectile is hard to dodge because the moment she lands it the aoe is so big that she can explodes it and poke you from 1000 range. like old gragas

Pretty much can't be dodged in lane I agree.

Lux is fairly balanced. All of her kit is skill based. She is easily killed. If she misses her bind, she is dead. She actually requires fair amount of skill to manage herself in a fight. She has REAL counters. Her ult could use a polish in CD. It's too low.

But guys... the OP lost to a Lux and now he's upset! It's much easier to make a post griping about it than to learn to play around her incredibly obvious strengths and weaknesses. Whine til everything around you is nerfed into the ground! It's a league player tradition!

I agree. Nerf Jungle Anivia!

I agree she is pretty well designed, but her ult is fine with such a low cool down. It's iconic and she relies on it heavily, and as such should be readily available Darius

All of her kit is skill based.

If she hits her her binding no more skill is needed to hit her other skillshots.

Her ult has so much range that she doesn't have to put herself in danger. She can just wait until somebody else uses CC on an enemy. where is the skill?

She can't miss herself with her shield.

And no skill is needed to zone enemys with her E.

She is easily killed.

She has a binding and a big shield and super long range. So it is very difficult to kill her.

She has a better win and play rate than the average, so she needs to be nerfed.

Cosnirak1 votes

"If she hits her her binding no more skill is needed to hit her other skillshots."

Except they have to be off cd and she has to have mana to cast them. These are not small issues on Lux until late game. Even then she has to survive standing there casting them all which is never a small issue for her without vision on all her enemies.

"Her ult has so much range that she doesn't have to put herself in danger. She can just wait until somebody else uses CC on an enemy. where is the skill?"

The skill is in being patient mostly. Also it's easy to miss by just miss aiming it. And she has to see it happening. You'd be amazed how many times she misses out on helping in a fight with her ult simply because her player can't always watch what's going on everywhere in range.

And then there's the fact that it does have a channel time. You often don't want to use your ult until you're sure the cc landed. But then by the time it did and you aim and fire the cc may be over and the opponent gets to flash or dash out of it. Also it doesn't do that much damage all by itself unless your target is really squishy or you're fed. People often think of its damage as what they see right when she comes back to lane with a needlessly large rod and hits lvl 6 and it does the bonus damage from procing her passive because they were hit by her Q and/or E first, but that's pretty misleading.

"She has a binding"

That's slow and easy to dodge. If you fail to expect it that's on you.

"a big shield"

On a single person at its max she has a perfectly average shield. It's also almost always leveled up last so until late game it stays rather small. If you can the key is to bait it out of her then wait for the wand animation to return to her so that half of it is already gone. It's a fairly short duration shield.

"super long range."

With her slow traveling, entirely skill shot kit... Yes. She also misses out on a big chunk of her damage if she doesn't get in auto attack range thanks to her passive.

"She has a better win and play rate than the average, so she needs to be nerfed."

Her play rate is high at low elos. It drops off significantly at higher elos until it fades into almost nothing at the top and becomes too small to really gauge her win rate well. This is because she's very good against bad players but has extremely exploitable weaknesses that skilled players tend to crush her with.

Look at champions that are good against Lux: Yasuo, Fizz, Fiddlesticks, Katarina, Zac, Rengar, Twitch, Sivir. Of course it is easy for champions with multiple dashes, instant mini teleports, dodge abilitys or stealth to dodge her stuff.

But look at the champions that are bad against Lux: Jinx, Brand, Karthus, Poppy, Orianna, Rammus, Garen, Lulu, Galio. These champions have to walk, but it is too fucking easy for Lux too hit them. Because Lux has overall a too good win rate, she is too oppressive against these champions.

Lux should be nerfed, but I am all for it to nerf bullshit like Yasuo, Fizz, Rengar too.

"super long range."

Her Ult procs her passive too.

She has 17.6% play rate and 52.7% win rate in Bronze+, 14.3% play rate and 52.8% win rate in Gold+, and 10.2% play rate and 52.0% win rate in Diamant+. http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/en/champions/stats/lux/bronze

The average is 7.8% play rate and 50% win rate. So she is popular and strong everywhere, maybe not in Challenger idk, but that is not enough elo space to balance her.

Cosnirak1 votes

"she is too oppressive against these champions."

I strongly disagree. She does have a couple good matchups, though mostly she sucks in lane (except vs bad players and pre 6 Katarina) and does well later on.

"Her Ult procs her passive too."

As I'm well aware. That still leaves her getting 1 proc max if she hits you with Q or E and then R. Still a sizable damage loss compared to her full combo though.

"She has..."

The numbers you shared alone clearly show how her play and win rate go down as elo goes up. In the last week she doesn't even make it to the top 15 most played or highest win rate champions in diamond.

http://www.lolking.net/charts?region=all&type=champion-winrate&range=weekly&map=sr&queue=1x1&league=diamond Hit the expand icon in the top right of the chart to see all the way to 15 championS

Such numbers are constantly in flux, especially after any patch happens. They very greatly based on region, elo, if you discount games played by people who have only played X or less games with that champion, ect. Also a number like 52% win rate is not really all that notable.

Top 15? The 64th champion is balanced win rate-wise.

Cosnirak3 votes

You think the exact middle in win rate champion is automatically the most balanced... oh lordy.

Shonjl1 votes

Idk about you but those numbers aren't OP. She is slightly higher than the perfect balance of 50%. And Playrate doesn't mean much. Hell look at Ahri and Vayne when they were popular, they had even higher playrates, if I recall, somewhere in the 25% range.

By this logic, Morgana Mid must be OP because she can do nearly the same things as Lux, hit just as hard, but also is tanky as hell. Lux doesn't get past 1.5k hp, Morg usually gets to 3k. She also has passive spell vamp so she gets health back easily. Actually Morg hard counters Lux....sooo.

Vayne had at least a bad win rate afaik. But these champions should be nerfed too. 7.8 % play rate, 50% win rate, 4.7% ban rate. This should be the balance goal.

Morgana has a completely different Ult. Morgana has a strong all in, while Lux is untouchable from far away.

And Lux is good against Morgana. Look at these data:

  • Lux has 53.4% win rate overall.
  • Morgana has 51.7% win rate overall.
  • Lux has 52.6% win rate against Morgana.

http://www.lolskill.net/champion/morgana/matchups

This means Lux win rate is increased by 0.9% against Morgana compared to the expected win rate.

The community's sheep stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

Public Service Announcement: LUX CANNOT DETONTATE HER E MID FLIGHT - SHE CAN ACTIVATE MID FLIGHT TO AUTOMATICALLY DETONTATE WHEN IT REACHES IT'S PRE-DETERMINED DESTINATION. That change was made to reduce how different pings affect a Lux player

Stop spreading misinformation.

This but there is the fact that it's radius is too large for how hard is it to tell where it will land. The only thing I would change with regards to Lux and nerfs is either add a slight delay with her E before she can detonate it, OR make it so when she throws it out, its landing area gets the AoE radius painted on it while the projectile is still in the air (like a Vel'Koz E), making it easier to dodge, or so Lux mains don't QQ too much make the radius only show up if the Lux detonates the E before it's settled (double tap E and it explodes on arrival without showing the AoE radius, nerf would make doing this show the radius on the ground making it less oppressive in lane and in team fights). The mana cost on it is huge but so is the AoE on the spell, it fills the area between the turret and raptor camp completely. This much harass and zoning on a champion that is essentially the less mobile, AoE SNIPER Leblanc is just so oppressive in game (she can kill 2 targets with her full Q>E>R combo if they're squishies, or even more people if she's snowballed which more often than not Lux does because she can snipe kills from bot while standing at Dragon with her low CD, high damage, high range ultimate. There's a reason people rush Mejai's Soul Crusher on her (which I'm calling it that because when I see someone buy it, the item is pretty much a statement of "You're nothing but another creep for me to farm" which is why I hate that stupid item and the crazy demonic rainbow spitting harpy that rushes it D:<)

Cosnirak4 votes

Try actually playing Lux on the rift. Seriously, just try it a few times. Buy Mejai's on her while you're at it. Your entire view of her will drastically change.

B..b..but mana....

Hahahahyena7 votes

who needs mana when you accidentally missed your snare and getting focused because youre a high priority target

Handin Out Naps8 votes

Who needs that when you have your ridiculously high range and aoe damage. She has had ridiculous stats for awhile, she isn't balanced. Just sit behind your tanks and start throwing shit around. And plus with the new support item you shouldn't be missing any snares anyway.

Hahahahyena6 votes

ridiculously high range when 2 of your abilities are slow and easily dodged when youre paying attention, but in a teamfight it will be really hard to see them. her teamfight is good but her laning is a bit predictable

Handin Out Naps7 votes

Her laning is incredibly safe. She has a snare, a shield, a slow, and high range/easy to land poke (e). She just has to sit back and wait for teamfights to start up and cash in on free mejaiis stacks. Lol @easy2dodge poke, nice meme.

Hahahahyena5 votes

her laning is incredibly predictable, just pick someone able to farm lane AND poke Lulu is one of the champs i play against her because when lux throws her e i throw my q, if she tries to snare i dodge, w then go in. Lux is really predictable and easily avoided in laning phase. just because she has cc doesnt mean shes ultimately safe

48983507DEL14 votes

In lane her mana costs are also pretty high. If she's poking you often, she will run oom. She's also one of the squishiest characters in the game, so with no mana she is virtually defenseless and easy to shove out of lane. Her E has a long cooldown, so after she harasses you once with it, you need to harass her a lot.

Fizz Wukong2 votes

Her shield has awesome AP scaling, definitely a top-tier shield. If you think about it, Diana is one of the squishiest, easiest to burst champs in the game until that shield is activated.

Cosnirak1 votes

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not... Lux's E has perfectly average AP scaling when all of it gets to prevent damage on a single person, which is very rare. So she tends to have below average AP scaling on her shield in lane.

Fizz Wukong2 votes

You're forgetting Lux' shield, like Diana's shield, is a double shield. Which is the reason I used Diana as the example.

Cosnirak1 votes

No I didn't forget that. Her TOTAL AP scaling on her shield is on par with other shields that can be used on allies like Lulu, Karma, Morgana, and Orianna. Her half shield scaling is a mere 35% AP IIRC off the top of my head.

Fizz Wukong2 votes

35 x 2 = 70. Which means her shield actually has 70% AP scaling.

Ratbert1 votes

Except diana's stacks. Lux's only shields twice if it's consumed initially.

Fizz Wukong2 votes

It replenishes either way. If you damage 90% of the shield, 90% will be awarded back on return. Not additive, but just as effective.

Diana 100 shield with a 30% ap ratio. Lux 180 shield with a 35% ap ratio.

Automatically making is stronger than any othe support's shield at 240 with 70% ap ratio.

Baron of Bread4 votes

Her laning is safe but her ability to waveclear is abysmal when compared to other mages. It is just really slow until she has a decent amount of AP. If you are having trouble I recommend shoving the lane and laughing while she tries to farm under turret.

Devack The Holy4 votes

You must DESPISE Xerath, then.

Handin Out Naps2 votes

Nah Xerath is pretty balanced, I'm fine with him as a champion.

Squarefighter2 votes

What I love about Xerath is all of his abilities have the perfect timing on them. There's a noticeable difference between a Xerath with 50 games and one with 10 games. It feels rewarding to dodge and rewarding to land because of this, and because of the 6 skillshots in his kit he's able to have crazy high bases and scalings. Lux's E has to have huge gating on it in the form of a 130 mana cost because it's nearly impossible to miss in lane. That feels bad for both the Lux (have you SEEN the boards posts about the mana cost) and for her opponent.

48983507DEL14 votes

That's any mage dude. They are extremely skillshot reliant, and relatively safe unless they are against an assassin.

Handin Out Naps4 votes

Lux does surprisingly well vs most assassins because of her ability to just cockblocking any champ that wants to snowball. But I think that's enough complaining about mages for now. Boards will always try to find excuses for their 54% winrate 12% pickrate mage to be balanced. Gotta clear your eyes and see how stupid some of your dear mages are sometimes.
