As someone who picked up Darius after the rework
I really want to try that instant Q, so many plays from highlight reels just don't seem possible without it :(

There is more counterplay and skill involved now so i think its better
True but it has no benefit to Darius, and generally isn't that fun to use
His Q now heals for 15-30% of his missing health which is a huge benefit. Couple it with and Spirit Visage and you are getting 36% Health back from your Q ever 4 Seconds. It is harder to land and jukable now, but landing it is way more rewarding.
I personally think Darius doesn't need any sort of heal. I'm all for bringing back the instant Q if it means he won't go from dead to full health just by being Darius.
If you stand on top of him he won't get the heal, he also can't heal to full, it maxes at 30% per Q, with spirit visage I think it's up to 39% you will also need to have 2 targets to get the max heal. Darius is great at cleaning up, but initiates poorly since his damage ramps and has no hard CC.
I think it is good as it is now, as a non-Darius player.
This might sound patronizing, sorry, but follow me for a second: the old Q was basically spammed every time, sometimes even in melee range, unless you had severe mana issues. Having it delayed makes so that it is necessary more tought before using it.
Sure, you no more slice like a butterfly, but that should have not been a strong point of him aniway :P
This makes it less powerful, that is balanced by having sustain and by applying 5 stacks of passive when NM activates, which would end to be trivial if it was istant cast. If you don' t like it, and you' d rather change back the sustain, then i suggest you to propose something else than having it istant cast since i think this is going to be a staple for him for a long time. Like, increased area or increased range? I leave that to you ;)
Well if they could turn it into Sions W where it does less if executed prematurely and more if you charge it all the way I'd be okay with that. After all he's supposed to be a master tactician so giving him that flexibility would be very thematic.
