Ekko upcoming changes.
I main Ekko somewhat and I'm aware of the tank Ekko builds people have been experimenting with along with the fact that it is extremely op given his movement speed, his passive and utility in general. Riot are obviously looking to change this by lowering his base damage so that it discourages people from building tanky, whilst simultaneously making the build path a lot weaker and not worth buying. I for one have never played tank Ekko and I'm yet to see it utilised 'well' in a game where it comes across as Over powered, I have no problems with the nerfs towards tank Ekko as I'm not one to jump on trends and try out broken builds just so I can dominate my opponents, however what I do have a problem with is the repercussions this is having on Ekko in terms of how he is supposed to be played (AP Assassin).
The approach Riot seems to be looming towards regarding Ekko is as I mentioned lower base damages and higher scalings which obviously means a weaker early game, leading to deter people from playing tank Ekko in general, but for the normal AP Ekko as a Dorans ring at earlier levels doesn't grant a lot of AP a 10-20% change in the Q's scaling won't have much or an unnoticeable effect at earlier levels being a quite significant nerf for the way Ekko is meant to be played lowering its by 24.5 Ap on his Q at level 1, (providing you have 15 Ap starting the game). Obviously this hurts the laning phase and trading dramage as it is his main harass tool in conjunction with his passive, yes it provides greater snowball potential as more AP earlier means you'll be doing slightly more damage compared to prior the nerfs, but also where snowballing isn't a possibility it makes Ekko this 'later game champion' where I wouldn't say he shines the most, especially compared to the competition regarding late game champions.
What I'm trying to put across is that with the tank builds still present even after nerfs and with further nerfs approaching in later patches to deter people from this playstyle, tank Ekko is not only becoming more of a turn off (which I have no problem with), but to reiterate, so is AP Ekko and the changes seem to be hurting the champion as a whole. The changes of course are tentative but if Riot is trying to incentivize (<--- its a word dw I checked, came up red for some reason), AP Ekko surely this isn't the most efficient way to do so. As suggestions I would say possibly increasing the scalings to 0.3/0.25 from 0.1 (what it is currently) + the 40 damage on the Q from level 1, or 0.2 scaling with the same base damage of 40 but with less mana usage on the Q would be more appropriate, as a result Ap Ekko's laning phase doesn't take such a hit from the tank Ekko nerfs. My intentions are not to make AP Ekko a God or some overpowered champion (like Annie), but to make AP Ekko seem a lot better in comparison to tank Ekko and hence lead him to how he is supposed to be played. Let's hear your thoughts...
