People complain about Yas too much.

Well perhaps someday they will invent a champion MORE annoying than him and they'll stop.

Apocalypsic5 votes

He's not even annoying, people need to really just chill out and let players enjoy their champs.

I play a lot of Lux. I wish Yasuo players would just chill out and stop wind walling my spells.

Seriously... This is the stupidest thing I have heard today. "Just chill and let players enjoy their champ" kinda makes you seem like a huge douche when you're defending a champ who is almost entirely built around cockblocking other people's abilities as he kills them with his spammy abilities and pile of free stats. I would LOVE to just chill and enjoy playing my champ, friend.... but I can't. Because every game he's not banned some idiot will pick Yasuo and be a massive annoyance to both teams all game.

How can someone hate Yasuo? He takes enormous skill to master, and has a 50.1% win rate. That's lower than most mids. Yet, miraculously his ban rate is HIGHER than most of them. Are people outdated or is this hate misdirected?

The Whamboozler1 votes

Psssst.... if he's so super-hard to use a 50% winrate likely means he's OP... as most people should find him too difficult to win with as consistently as a simpler champ. So either Yasuo isn't that difficult, or he's fiercely overpowered if the army of lowly bronze and silver chumps are still pulling 50% winrates with him despite his "massive difficulty".

Also, winrate doesn't = balanced. A coin flip is random and 50-50... but you wouldn't want a champion who's passive was "at start of match, Riot will flip a coin. On heads the enemy nexus explodes and on tails the allied nexus explodes". Stats are often misleading and VERY easy to interpret as saying whatever you like.

And lastly, none of this matters to banrate. People ban champions because they don't want to face them. Usually because they're crazy annoying or have a playstyle, mechanics or affect on the game that people dislike. Yasuo is incredibly obnoxious. He is hated by a LOT of people who find him really annoying and unfun to play against, and the people who DO play him are often some of the most annoying, rude, arrogant or just plain toxic players in league. I've yet to see a Yasuo who didn't spend ALL GAMe bming like mad... even the 1/12 Yasuo top who was getting hard carried by his bot lane. It's like the champ only attracts the worst kinds of people.

So in short... this hate is neither misdirected nor are people "outdated"... whatever that's supposed to mean. People ban him a ton because they hate his guts. Even when he's not OP, he's just freaking obnoxious... which isn't helped by his players often being obnoxious, rude or just plain jerks themselves. Besides... you can't judge power on winrates alone. What's MORE... a champion can be balanced or lacking a high winrate and still be really poorly designed. The game is set up to force 50% winrates. Having a 50% winrate means next to nothing. It doesn't mean he's balanced... and it doesn't mean he's well-designed. His huge banrate shows that for whatever reason a LOT of people hate him... and that should be enough reason for Riot to look at him. Anytime they try though, all the Yas fans come out and cry about it.

As a Yasuo main, it actually concerns me that a lot of people feel that way. When I hear that "Yasuo mains are toxic" I usually give them the "are you for real?" face. I can't name a time where I have seen a single toxic Yasuo. Unless of course it was staged to look that way for a video or something where the person was making fun of the champion. I myself don't get into the toxic mindstate, as it will lead to nothing but arguments with team-mates, which in turn lead to losses most of the time. The "outdated" comment was in reference to patch notes. He's been nurfed A LOT since his release, and most of it past a certain point was riot just appeasing the haters. In one of the patch notes they even stated in the nurf that they didn't feel he was out of line. (patch 4.13, in which they've continually nurfed him after that point. The "frozen force" days were a saving grace to some, as they saw him in the limelight again. I didn't partake, as I hate going tanky XD) His most recent ban basically cemented his place as a mediocre mid laner who's good in SOME situations but mostly gets outshone by the reworked champions. Win rate may not be proof to you, but watching a rapid decline of his winrate from 58% to 50.1% basically overnight proves that some sort of "balancing" occurred whether it was enough or too much is still to be determined. Though a massive wave of people think it wasn't enough. If I could, I'd play him every match. He's so fun to play. I even enjoy laning against him as I get the same sense of "awe" from the style and gameplay of the champion itself.

In regards to the alarmingly high amounts of claims that Yasuo's kit is broken... where is any proof in that? It flows nicely within itself, and everything he has is counterbalanced. Double Crit, but reduced crit damage, and further crit damage reduction on abilities. A low CD dash? Very situational and basically no escape options unless vision on the jungle is present. Multi-target ult? Extremely limited opportunity for casting, enemy has to be knocked airborn, and the Yasuo has to be facing the same direction as the target. (Unless that's just a bug... wouldn't surprise me.) His windwall that blocks a lot of projectiles has a long cooldown. He has good damage, but a really low health pool. I think that about sums it up. As for Riot taking a look into him... I'd prefer they leave him be at least until they take a look at everything else that's out of line. Zed (the ninja that will never see true balance), Volibear (the tank that can't die), Camille (The new champion that is pretty awesome, but strong even with inexperienced hands), Vladimir (The meh vampire that recently became a complete god of sustain), Malzahar (The voidmaster that still has one of the most questionable ults in the game), and Lux. (Every person's freelo, courtesy of 2 button combos) If the next couple of patches go through, and Yasuo's win rate continues to drop... maybe they'll actually buff him. That would tick a lot of people off however, so I doubt it. Anyways, I'm actually in the process of making a spreadsheet comparing all the stats of 49 champions that are being played in the mid lane currently. I will do my best to finish it and link it here before too long. Perhaps I'll reconsider my thought on him after that point. But for now, I play him because he is challenging, and completely fun. (Arguing with it is rather pointless. One or two high tier players may say otherwise, but the general consensus is "Yasuo is a high skill, high reward champion that is easy to play but hard to master." Even riot gave him the honor of being one of the five champions with the max difficulty rating.) It's just sad that I see him consistently banned when there are much better bans at this time. Though I'm grateful the ban rate is steadily falling as well, as most people are beginning to realize he's not release day Yasuo anymore.

No matter what state he's in, he's probably gonna be a pretty common ban... because people hate him. You want reasons? Surf the boards for a few and you'll see at LEAST three Yas hate posts within the first five minutes. People just hate the guy, and they all have different reasons. I personally seem to always get the arrogant, BMing douchebag Yasuos. You know... the sorts of jerks who play Riven and Tryndamere. If they're losing they're obnoxious. If they're ahead they're insufferable... and god help you if they're on YOUR team, as they labor under the delusion that they are the center of the universe, the most skilled player on the team AND the only hope you have of winning. This Yas wants every kill. This Yas will rage if you didn't pick a pile of knock-up champs to support his pick. This Yas will blame you for anything and everything when he yolo's under tower against his lane opponent and dies. In this Yasuo's eyes... he is a golden god that is forced to suffer through having awful teammates. Each of his deaths wasn't his fault... his team just messed up and everyone knows that Fiddlesticks is OP!

We can debate kits. We can talk balance. We can discuss difficulty, skill cap, skill floor, and mechanics of all sorts, and you can explain to me exactly why you think Yasuo is fine, fun and not broken. But you're missing the point, and I will always hate Yasuo. Because he is OBNOXIOUS... not broken. I hate how he plays. I hate fighting him. I hate having him on my team. And I hate that he's so popular that I have to ban him every freakin' game or I'm pretty much assured to see him. To some extend it's probably irrational at this point. The champ mad a bad impression on me and I've yet to meet a Yas player who I didn't want to give a quick amateur tracheotomy. His mere presence in the game makes it less fun for me, and I don't see that shit ever changing.

Basically everything you stated about the personality of a Yasuo player sums up 95-100% of all Vayne, Jhin, Zed, Kogmaw, Ashe, and Syndra Players. Honorable mentions would be Riven, lux, Le Blanc, and Lee Sin. But at least for me, I haven't met a single Yasuo player like that. Probably because I end up picking him if he's not banned and I have my lane preference.

Now that you've put it this way... without the guise of being on the bandwagon of "Yasuo OP", I can totally understand what you mean. I feel very strongly against Zed mains for instance. I feel that the entire game becomes far less fun to play with just his mere presence as everyone immediately becomes on edge and snappy with one another to keep him from getting a kill at any point in the match. Most of them feel that anything they do is an immense outplay and they deserve a shower of praise while they spam in all chat "get gud." Then if they die they have the audacity to call YOUR champion pick overpowered. I usually just mute any player that shows any signs of being toxic in the early game, as they tend to digress further. But after a 10 minute or so mute I unmute them to see if they've improved. Sometimes they have, and it was all pent up rage from the prior match. But for the champs listed above, it tends to be inherent to their kit itself.

Greaves rush ? I've been doing this on Kayle for quite a while now. If I were a Yasuo player, I'd have probably been doing it on him. Greaves rush is really strong in general on attack speed champs.
