While Yasuo should be a squishy samurai character, he shouldn't have to sacrifice himself with his ult.
Riot has made their position clear that requiring a character to do a thing then die is bad gameplay and bad design. It's the reason they give assassins a way to escape after they score a kill. The game should not be played like "piece trading in chess". If a champ like Yasuo is supposed to die when using his ult, then his ult has to be a certain kill and that's not fun for anyone.
- Yasuo doesn't want to die just to use his ult.
- Nobody wants to instantly die just because Yasuo ult'ed them.
- Yasuo's team doesn't want to have a teammate that jumps in and dies like a Bronze VI scrub every fight because that feed the entire enemy team gold for killing him and offsets the 5v4 advantage down to a 4v4.
- The enemy team isn't even happy getting extra gold every time they all kill Yasuo because they'd rather have a chance to stop him before he kills their carry.
No doubt, Tanky DPS Yasuo has to go. But useless glass cannon that has to sacrifice himself every fight to do anything Yasuo is FAR more toxic to the game.
Damage is so high right now that every melee champ needs to get some tankiness just to not instantly explode every fight. We and Riot need to decide if champs like Yasuo should be allowed to literally one-shot a carry right off the map with no counterplay or if we are okay with them building tanky but taking longer to get kills. Because right now, if a melee champ can't be successful when building at least semi-tanky and cannot delete a carry in under 1 second going glass cannon, they are just plain not viable and that is not okay.
