Hey Riot, why not use increasing scalings?

What I mean by this is for every X amount of ap, increase the ap ratio of this spell by Y amount.

On someone like ekko perhaps, we all know how hot a topic he is right now.

Instead of his q having a .1 and .6 ap ratios, change them to .05 and .3, but for every 100 ap, he gains .025 and .1 to that ratio. These numbers are far from balanced, but it's more to give an example of how its intended to work. There could also be put a cap on top of say .2 and .7, but it's just an attempt at making people who should opt into damage, do that. Mostly for long range mages and ap assassins.

Hope this was helpful. <3

Veigar new passive:

Increases all numbers in Veigar's kit by 1% for every 25 AP

He'd have 50% more damage by late game 0____0

ALL numbers 50% more damage. 50% more AP scaling. 50% more to every base stat. 50% longer cooldowns but 50% more CDR. 50% longer stun in a 50% bigger area, 50% longer delay on dark matter which has 50% more radius. 50% more ap per stack, 50% more range on everything, 50% more movespeed, 50% larger model, 50% EVERYTHING.

Riot make this happen

Lol, INFINITE SCALING

Because that makes AP worthless early on in the game and is more likely to make Ekko just ignore his scalings altogether and build straight tank.

Well they would of course have to double up on nerfing flat values and flat scalings, but this is more to entice people to build more damage to deal more damage.

Buffing a champions scalings doesn't make them want to build more damage, but less damage in the majority of cases where the champion is melee. The reason for this is similar to the reason tank Fiora was viable. High scalings lead toward a lower affinity to damage, and instead more resistances to assist in staying alive in a fight and still outputting good damage. That's another reason why tank ekko is viable now.

If he had scalings that rewarded him for building more ap, with significantly more damage than if he built less ap, then more people would play him with more ap, and thus he is squishier.

This is completely wrong. Nerfing Fiora's bases and buffing her scaling immediately made damage-focused builds more popular and effective on her.

Not true, it just so happened that on the patch she received those nerfs, titanic hydra, the driving item for that build lost 20 ad making for less ad in the build overall, so her scaling a wouldn't work as well with that build.

She can still build those items and do well, she can also build ~ 1 ad item and mostly health items after and still do great. It might seem like the scaling buff is what brought her back in line, but the need to titanic hydra is what really did it.

That also welt along with the yi and shyvanna nerfs in the patch, which is why they are no longer considered rediculously broken as they were before.

I could go on about how OP titanic was, but that's not what this discussion is for.

Then why isn't she? Her current most popular and highest winrate builds both go for Ravenous Hydra and Black Cleaver first, both almost purely offensive items, then follows up with sterakk's, a mixed item, and maw, an offensive item with some targeted defensive stats. The only purely defensive item is GA, which is thought of less as a tank item and more of a carry-protector item.

Because there are better options than Fiora for tanks that deal damage to win people games.

Think poppy, Sion nautilus etc. Just so happened that better options became available.

The rest of those people are people who just enjoy the champion and likely think the only viable way to build her is that or perhaps prefer full damage to tanky dps.

In any case you'll see Fiora's win rate and playmate have both significantly decreased since her and titanic's nerfs, most likely meaning that how she is played now isn't very effective.

Wasn't that the goal? Tank champions are better when building Tank while Fiora should be better when building damage?

But they shouldn't out- damage, out cc, and out tank champions who built full damage which is what they were doing.

Also on a side note, why you downvoting me? Make me be sad. :(

What does this accomplish that just having a bigger flat scaling in the first place doesn't?

Would like to direct you to the conversation being had with Quepha.
