I'm just really confused.

Hi.

League of Legends is not CoD. Despite the general consensus that your K/D/A somehow reflects your performance, the truth is it does not. Just means you are great at getting that killing blow.

Hello,

I'd agree with you, except for the fact that I had more damage than the opposing mid laner and adc combined.

If you look at the numbers, I did significantly more damage than anybody else. The 2nd most damage in the game had less than 20k damage than me.

Which is fine, we're just saying that it judges you based on other things besides how you did in actual combat alone.

Wards placed /destroyed, towers taken, and total CS / time are other things it judges you on.

Damage does not mean shit if you don't ward and don't farm.

Again, KDA is only one component of the calculation.

Also, Zed did more damage than you overall, 174k against 161k, you only did more damage to champions.

My only response it Riot clearly does not weigh damage done, and kills as highly as the community does. No one knows the formula that Riot uses to calculate your score, but it should be fairly obvious that damage, and kills are maybe only 70% at the most.

In addition your mastery score is calculated somehow like this....

Riot has a forumla... After your game, it takes your post game status for that particular game on that particular champion, looks at plenty of factors, and ultimately spits out a score.

This score is created for every game on a champion specific level per player. Somewhere there is a huge table which is keeping an ever updating log of player scores for each champion.

Then Riot takes your score, and somewhere they have created another formula that assigns a grade based on your score. This range (similar to like school grades 90-100 = A.. etc etc ) was manually created by Riot and hopefully is tuned every now and then. but this range was created by taking the data of tons of games per champion, and then breaking it out by %. So a range was created for like the top 5%, and if you get a score in that range you get that grade.. etc. etc.

TL:DR - Riot took data from a ton of games per champion, the ran the game data through their formula. From those scores they created grade ranges based on percentile. After your game, your score is technically measured against the scores of other players on the same champion as yours.

We dont know the formula. We do not know how often it is adjusted if ever, but we do know that we are in a way graded against the performance of other players on a champion specific level. So like ADC caitlyn, your post game score is measured against the stats of other recorded caitlyn games.

Damage on its own means nothing. League is not CoD. You have to get kills, get CS, take towers, get dragons, ward, group, disperse, clear, shield, peel, lifesave and SO much more to get an S. KDA and Damage isn't everything. It's only a small fraction of what you need to do.

farm and wards count towards your grade. you may be awesome in some areas, but if you dont outperform in all aspects you wont get S.

you only had 154 farm in a 38minute game, thats quite low.

The thing that sticks out to me is that you are also graded on your warding. You didn't purchase any pink wards, and you only placed 1 ward.

Vision is very important, and if I had to guess, this is why you did not get an S rank.

It's going to come as a huge shocker (sarcasm) to you, but the mastery system actually looks at other parts of a game other than your KDA.

It might have something to do with the chest thing. I think you can't get an S with a champ once you already got a chest with an S score before. I honestly don't know.

You can get more S-es on one champion after you get the chest. I've gotten two or three S-es with Braum recently.

Sometimes I think it looks at how much you were grouped for teamfights. i went 18/1/20 with ahri one game and it was still a A-. But I went 8/4/12 as support another game and got an S rank.

158 cs in 38 minutes by an ADC is horrible. I believe riot is finally confirming that your KDA don't mean so much.

I don't mean to sound like an asshole, but you're never gonna get an S rank with 154 cs by 38minutes.

The system takes into account a lot more than just KDA.

in a 31 minute game u placed down 1 single trinket ward and u had never pruchased a pink ward.

Grades are a collective measure, meaning that there's other people playing Ezreal with better combined stats than you, 154 minions by minute 38 is definitely not S grade worthy.

150 cs is attainable in 20 minutes, and the game lasted 34. You also only warded once.

Not true, I have level 1 mastery on some champs but I have still received chests on them.

Yes your KDA is great, but you had 154 cs in a 38 minute game and placed only one ward. I would guess those two items killed your score. KDA is only one part of the equation for the grades.

Your farm was horrible and you only warded once.
