Magic resist is either too strong or too weak...

When I play a Mage, I always feel that my build early game needed to have, item 3285 item 3916 item 3020 So I could kill my laner with 1 or 2 rotation of my combos, if they didn't build magic resist. and if they build magic resist, I would need at the very least 3 rotation.

If I were to go another build such as, item 3027 item 3116 item 3020 vs someone who would build item 1057 I would feel like I would not be able to kill the champion and only scratch them, item 3194 and when they would have this item for example I would feel I would do 0 damage, and needed Void staff to even do damage to those champions.

So in conclusion,

Mages need Pen to snowball, if mages doesn't go Pen they would do no damage, Base Magic resist is too low, Stacking Magic resist is too strong.

Feels like the opposite, item 3135 is strong af against mr stackers and even squishies and item 3916 + item 3020 are cheap but powerful on champions who rely on high base damage, buying mr early is simply the only counter to it.

I dont feel this is so true, its pretty rare in midlane to have enemies building negatron, and if they do, they are sacrificing their own damage output to a degree that they will certainly need a few rotations to kill you as well.

But, double mpen items isnt standard on every mage. E.g. malzahar and cassiopeia usually go for a three item powerspike with rylais and liandrys. Even on my main veigar i usually build haste item, sorc shoes, banshees or zhonyas, straight into deathcap.

Base defense has been low for a long time. Riot believes that it promotes early aggression.

Instead no one tries to fight anything unless they can level 3 100-0 the enemy.
