Soraka Keystone

Just wondering if deathfire grasp might be a considerable alteritive keystone. I know it would take a different mastery path, lower her healing but, it would allow her in theory would allow her to poke down enemys in lane. Anyway what are your thoughts? And have you tried it?

You loose too much for little to no gain.

If you want to deal more damage, build a Liandry's and get a better result.

There is no substitute for Windspeakers on Soraka. It effects almost everything she does, including the passable regen on herself from landing her Q.

Thunderlord's is better. You can do more burst with a smaller cost.

I thought about thunderlords but its not the standard ran either and has a lower damage, requires 3 hits, and ap ratio not to mention a cd that deathfire doesnt show if it has one.. I was thinking about poke not burst. Something to make her kinda like heal and forever burn champion. to put the enemys underturret and scared to farm.

DFT does reduced damage on DoT and Aoe. All of raka spells are AoE so they have reduced benefits

Also, she builds little AP, so the damage you get from it is negligible at all stages of the game.

Nope.

Dont think the damage from DFT would do enough to compare to her immense sustain potential through Windspeaker path.

To be honest, you could fidget around with her runes and get a better result out of auto attacking for poke.

I had full attack speed ( with armor / mr - yellows / blues ) I was able to dish out a lot of bananas while dodging since my aa animation was so much quicker.

Zones pretty well, you auto occasionally when enemy is going for CS. If your ADC harasses along with you, you just attack until you receive damage, then drop a Q for HP / E silence and back off and let your ADC do the rest while you heal UP

Your E snares after it's silence duration is over. So it's a great for cutting enemies pathing options.

I don't know if I would do this in a ranked game though, but in normals, I get messy with build variation / rune mastery setup.

It's just so much more fun playing champions with cheesy builds. Especially Lethality / Mpen lulu, your autos can probably rival Zyra damage.

The only Keystones you can op for other than Windspeakers on her is Tlords, Grasp and Bond of stone, but None of them compete except debatably Tlords for certain matchups.

If you want a champion to deal damage in lane, don't pick Soraka. Soraka is only picked because of her healing, so anything that amplifies that MUST be taken. So no, DFT isn't worth it. After all, the damage increase isn't that big anyway.

I've tried a ton of different mastery paths on Soraka because I love to see how her strengths can be shifted. My personal opinion is that Windspeaker is undoubtedly the best option even in a solo lane. The benefit it provides just on her ult alone seems to outweigh the damage gain of the other masteries.

Deathfire just doesn't feel like it has a noticable effect with her Starcall, the base damage is okay but the scaling is so poor that even with quite a bit of AP it is hard to notice. Couple this with the fact that both her offensive spells are AoE and the reduced effectiveness makes the mastery feel very lackluster. The other downside is that you lose out on 45% cdr which is a godsend for Soraka. Her damage is weaker but being able to cast more often usually allows you to provide a lot of pressure and keep yourself alive and that extra 5% really pays off with maximizing your access to her ultimate which is one of the most powerful abilities in the game.

Thunderlords on the other hand can be hilarious if used on an aggressive Soraka. You still keep access to the 45% cdr potential but you do get a nice chunk of extra burst in your combo. Thunderlords is also extremely easy to proc with Soraka since you can set it off by using Starcall to slow and then combining an auto with Equinox. The slow really makes this easy to pull off and even without the auto you sometimes will proc it if they just can't escape the Equinox in time. I've seen so many opponents taken off guard by the extra damage in trades and in a solo lane it really lets you punish your opponent. The cooldown is a downside but you'll probably get more damage by using Thunderlords on cooldown with the extra cdr from the tree and just landing more Starcalls than you would using DFT at reduced effect.

Ultimately you should just try it out for yourself, see what feels good to you and know that you aren't obligated to pick any one mastery path. If you test out something and find a way to make it work for you then power forward, just don't go into ranked with anything you haven't tested out thoroughly in a normal game.

Honestly you lose way too much out of Windspeaker to even remotely make consider taking anything else.
