Not sure why lee ult is an instant cast root.

He has to get to melee range and it's an ultimate, that's why.

Yes, but what other skill stuns you for the 'animation' of the ability? Camille ult should stun then. i mean it's not like it's hadr for either of them to get into melee range. it's not like some skilled feat for lee lol. not like knocking you 800 units isn't strong already and a aoe knockup.

It's not a stun.

Is this bait or can you actually not grasp the concept of knockbacks

no, it is not, because I'll be AAing him (or have assigned the attack command on him)... then all of a sudden I'll stop AAing (or just never AA even though my AA range is higher than his and he didn't engage with Q), THEN he kicks. stopping AA happens before the knock back.

NOt sure if troll or you can't read because it's obvious I'm talking about the .25 second animation CC they put onto it... which is NOT a knockback.

knockbacks and knock ups stop all aa and abilities. root do not

then why when i've been AAing on him, he'll get close, then I stop attacking, then he kicks? (or i have auto attack command on him, but never attack even though it wasn't like he Q and re Q'd onto me my model literally just stops and puts it's arms down as if no auto attacking is even going to take place)

root doesnt stop aa, just stop movement. i think you meant stun.

you get stunned at the start of his kick animation because its supposed to be something instant (or else you could walk away and get kicked in other direction) but they wanted lee's ult to have a fancy spin in the animation. so for balance purpose, instead of it being really really bad or get rid of animation so that it becomes a shitty kick, they decided to make you cced at the press of the button rather than animation, but you only fly away once the animation ends tho

The brief root on cast is so that the target actually goes where Lee aimed the kick.

Since it's a targeted ability, things like Flash won't prevent you from being kicked, but they would change the trajectory of the knockback (potentially in bizarre ways depending on which direction you moved yourself).

Not to mention that consistently using Flash within that 0.25 second window isn't something that'd happen consistently enough to call it real counter-play (latency being a thing here), while at the same time feeling bad for the Lee player when it DOES happen and ruins what would've been a good kick.

In short, the root exists to keep the "target is knocked back in the direction that Lee kicked them" part consistent.
