Why don't we duo in mid lane?

This way top, bot and jungle can all assist the duo lane. Adc and support will be close enough to guard drag and baron. Mid lane is also the most important tower. Mid's also closer to tower so the duo will be safer

Mainly because of mid lane being the shortest lane and mages' reliability on their tower, but also the new tower changes which makes bot tower very vulnerable because it has no fortification buff the first 7 minuttes, and going 2v1 bot will be obvious first tower

Not sure if you talked about supp's assisting mages and then leaving adc's bot, but ill go over it anyways. ADC scale way better with gold than levels so losing exp because of a 2v2 lane is less punishable. Unfurnunately, most of them are just not good right now

Because the mid lane provides more safety and the reason to have the duo in bot is that duo provides safety in the longer lane. If you have the duo mid, then bot becomes like a second top lane in a few ways, so perhaps second a "top lane" champion is taken so that mixes things up; It's interesting to think about.

the duolane goes duo to defend the dragon

the midlane is a lane that gets shit on by jungle the easiest unless they can a) take advantage of the lane length or b) take advantage of the location or c) take advantage of the mid and/or jungler (if you know what I mean)

The midlane is where mages and assassins go because they pretty much do all the above, but about option A. People say its safety but its so much more. For example if you want to shove toplane vs mid think about how far you have to shove that and how much mana that would cost you. Mid is actually less safe once you consider tower dives but mages tend to have abilities for dealing with groups of enemies rather than single enemies only. Assassins are just good at escaping even if they stay and try to defend and fail.

What happens when you send adc and support mid is that champs that do less in other lanes are forced into other lanes.. you can survive this and dragon will still get defended but now moreso by mid instead of bot meaning top wont be getting as many ganks from mid if any at all. Support could go top or the adc but I promise you that's not going to go quite the same way as if it was a mage.

But here's the real kicker, if something happens in midlane 2 champions will die. If something happens normally its just one. They will be able to roam more easily and dominate too of course if they get fed but its not worth the risk usually. Some teams have actually swapped lanes in pro games.

People keep calling me stupid for saying this but something I recommend is countering some roaming mid strategies by sending the support and adc mid to force the roamer to either 1v2 or go to a peripheral lane thus forcing them to cut off access to at least one lane while having to lane and gank very differently.

ADCs want to stay in their lane and farm.

Mages, assassins and the types of champions who go mid want to get levels and then use that level advantage to roam and help their teammates. The middle lane is the one most suited to roaming because it's nearest the two other lanes, so it makes sense for your roamer to there.

Of course, there are ADCs who like to roam, such as Quinn and Twitch, who do sometimes go solo mid and could theoretically go duo mid. The problem there is that the enemy team will probably just make bot a 2v1 lane, and your displaced solo laner will not be able to farm.

Because mages rely on their abilities for damage and so do assassins. The mid lane allows the mages to solo farm xp, and get levels faster for more damage.
