Riot, could you please consider ARAM-specific balance for Sona?

First off, I'm not some angry kid that just lost against Sona. I'm a high ELO ARAM player https://euw.whatismymmr.com/dr%20poro who is just sick to know the outcome of the game in champ select. While, yes, there will always be OP champs and useless champs, none of them is as outrageous as our lovely Sona.

Statistics: https://www.op.gg/statistics/champion/ Sona has 71.59% winrate in ARAM last month (a stable number for a very long time) Second highest winrate is Ziggs with 66.25% Next in line come Kog'Maw 61.84% Teemo 59.88% Heimerdinger 59.39% Swain 59.22% Fiddlesticks 59.19% Lux 59.18%

As you can see here, we have a 5% gap between #1 and #2, another 5% gap between #2 and 3#, then a 2% gap and then a bunch of champions in the same tier.

If you filter for only Diamond players, the gap increases.

I think 60% still lies in the acceptable winrate range for ARAM. This gamemode doesn't have to be as balanced as Summoners Rift (where 60% is outrageous), but I feel like 71%... That's still too much, even for a random selection mode. I don't mind one team having a higher chance of winning by luck, it's in the nature of the game. But having a Sona is equally disbalanced as a 4v5.

Perhaps Ziggs even needs a touch aswell. Remove his turret kill with W would likely be enough. As for Sona, I'd nerf her healing or shielding.

Riot has never begun the balancing act with ARAM because it will require too much maintenance.

Wrong. Certain champions, such as Bard, have received buffs in ARAM because their kit wouldn't otherwise function in this gamemode.

Riot has never begun the balancing act with ARAM because it will require too much maintenance. They probably have enough on their plate with SR and the rotating modes.

Riot has already accepted that some champs in ARAM will be stronger than others. In high MMR, to have your matches heavily influenced by RNG in champ select can be frustrating, but that is the essence of the mode. This is why Riot hasn't added a ranked queue for ARAM.

You can say that I have a fixed mindset, but I hope that Riot will never stray far from the 'classic' version of All Random All Mid (I still enjoy LotPK and the Bilgewater map though).

He already said all of that himself in his OP. The whole point of his post is they should make an "exception" for Sona because she is TOO out of line. And there are some ARAM-specific changes to champs like Bard.

Well there is the typical argument 'if they do it to one they should do it to all otherwise it's unfair', but I forgot about the Bard change.

Sona is a problem because she is Sona, not because of aram.

Unfortunately, as mentioned in the 7.1 patch notes and reiterated by ManWolfAxeBoss a few days ago, Riot doesn't do map-specific balancing anymore. Buffs to weak abilities (e.g. Bard, Gangplank, Nasus) are one thing, but nerfs don't seem likely.
