seriously why dirk has a lot of branched items for each situation and this item 3136 has literally none.

Because it works for any situation when you upgrade it. Flat pen for MR. % HP damage for tanks.

There are only 3 items that provide magic penetration right now, item 3020 , item 3151 and item 3135 . That means AP assassins are basically locked out of boots choice. When you add in how many offensive items provide MR ( item 3814 , item 3001 , item 3156 , item 3139 , item 3091 ) while only one provides armor ( item 3157 ), it's pretty clear assassins got the short end of the stick.

But in all seriousness, I agree completely. AP assassins need more items, whether it be ap pen or ap/armor. Just something. We have enough AP burst items, but we need to install something with more defensives instead of item 3157 which I'm pretty sure is the only AP item with armor.

Still confuses me why all the good AP defensive items are AP/Health :c

I think another high (100+) AP item would be a good addition once they eventually change Rylai's.

tbh I forgot about them when writing the post. Morello is great but Archangel's isn't viable on most APs. Especially in this meta. Only champs who can use it right now are Ryze and Cass.

Mages already have enough damage, and more than enough utility.

They're more likely to get nerfed as a whole than get a new item.

item 3030 item 3152 item 3157 item 3027 item 3165 item 3146 item 3174 item 3001 item 1082 item 3041 were all either reworked or added in the MYMU.

If they wanted to add an ap assassin item, they could try making something that procs off of movement abilities (not protobelt) kind of like a sheen effect that increases spell damage or gives magic pen

i really want an ap tenacity item. that would mean i could FINALLY go a more damaging build on my boy Kennen . something like 80 ap, 15 tenacity, 10 pen. if fucking maw can have pen, cdr, ad, and mr, why not an ap item with those stats.

They said they would make Rylais branch out into different item paths. I think the main reason why riot doesn't like to touch ap items as much is simply because supports like zyra could abuse of them (that's just my 5 cents)
