What you guys don't get

When you whine for a tank meta, tank metas bleed into hyper-carry metas because hyper-carry marksmen eat through tanks faster than anything in the game.

Everyone complaining about hyper-carries in the meta, just note that this is what happens when people finally catch on during tank metas. Next time we aren't in a tank meta, who's gonna whine for ANOTHER tank meta? Raise your hand.

Why not make a meta where no one is near impossible to kill or can potentially 1-shot?

Someone will always be out there thinking they die too fast or die too slow, and if there's enough room for ONE person to think some way, there's enough room for at least a large sample of people to think that way. So, for now, tanks are the ish, especially jg tanks. Eventually we'll go back to really aggressive jgs like Lee Sin, and you guys will bitch about him again for the millionth time.

League's meta is ALWAYS defined by a few champs per lane. Riot just sticks their hands in and cycles which ones are doing well whenever they think to, based on community crying. ESPECIALLY bot lane.

Bot lane's meta is always "a few marksmen, a few more supports". Yeah, it sucks, but marksmen in general would need a MASSIVE overhaul if we're going to see that change.

But some type of tank has always been viable. Metas form when a large number of X class being stacked up becomes the main way to build strong team comps. Doesn't mean there's no viable divers atm. Doesn't mean there's no viable mages atm. It just means that tanks have the upper hand...and Janna out of nowhere.

Like I said, though, if bot lane's gonna be a more balanced lane, it needs a massive overhaul for the marksmen that go there. Some need to be retooled to be good in other lanes, and we're gonna need some champions that aren't marksmen to be good in a duo lane. I'm not even sure if it's possible.

I'm just focusing on bot lane in this particular discussion between the two of us because it's the most blatant and obvious example to use while discussing the point you made on champ viability. As far as the original post goes, people complaining about hyper-carries now is primarily because people wanted a tank meta, and got one, before now. Hyper-carries always rise up to deal with tank metas, and for them not to do so would mean they as a category of marksmen would need buffs...or we're all too in love with Lucian/Draven to think with our heads in champ select. Now the lack of variety outside of those hyper-carries being used? That's generally been the case since I started playing.
