Why don't we have more Ornn masterwork items?

Would it be too difficult to make them? I don't think so, because the only differences between them and their not-upgraded counterparts are the stats they give, their names and the border around their icons.

Would they be too hard to balance? Why would they be? There's already 8 of them, so their existence isn't problematic by itself, and adding new ones wouldn't change anything because you can only have 1 per champion.

Why do I think there should be more of them? Because there are champions who can build none of the current 8 ones. Here's a couple of examples: 1- Zac: there are only 2 masterwork tank items, item 3373 and item 3379. Zac can build neither the former, because he already has item 1401 as his mandatory jungle item, nor the latter, because he would waste all the gold value that went into the mana stat. 2- MasterYi: if I have to build on-hit because the enemy team is tanky, I won't be able to buy item 3371, so I'll be left with no actually available options.

So, why doesn't Riot simply add more masterwork items to the game? Having too many would be better than having an insufficient amount, because at least players would have more freedom of choice when it comes to the bonus stats they give.

Riot said they didn't want Ornn's upgrades to benefit ALL champions.

#####To zac I would buy him item 3383

Personally I would love to, to see bigger diversity but I see the balance problematic side of this happening...

Imagine the powerspikes Ornn could create if all items had a masterwork version...

item 3147 item 3124 item 3285 item 3095

because people were so bad at when to buy them they literally had to nerf his passive and lock them behind lvl 13

why would more options help anything?

Why, exactly, can't Zac build item 3379? So what, he doesn't get the mana. He wants everything else the item gives, especially the magic damage amp.

honestly, they shoud do masterwork item 3083 or item 3053

item 3075 would probably also be cool.

no one has mentioned anything about team compositions. not every champions is supposed to be good with every other champion. Renek + Elise is a good combo, but things like lee sin in the worlds finals in those comps didn't offer much. the point is if that ornn had more masterworks, and an item for every situation, be it on hit, lethality, even more tanky stuff, items for manaless champs, then he would fit every single team comp, and would almost be best in slot every single game even in bad lane match ups because the 4 other people on the team could just benefit hugely regardless of other factors. this here would not only create a meta issue in top lane but effect hugely the rest of the map. no single champion should have so much power especially in just a passive, for example shen can effect 2 positions post six, but only once every time his ult is off cooldown. he cant ult himself and theres a long cdr, which is the down side to being able to effect globally. Ornn would just be a tank top, infinite sustain through not having to back, and his team would literally have an entire extra shop compared to the team that didnt have ornn. as it stands the masterwork items only benefit a % of the champions and im sure if you calculated it it would be a rather high % of champions, but there are still a portion of were the masterworks arnt so good, and this is the downside to the masterworks. if you remove this downside there would be a huge variety of problems. unless your proposing new items that are so weak they dont really effect the game, which is pointless. perhaps a better thing would be to change the items rather than adding new ones, but they would have to be careful which ones they swapped for the same reasons why they shouldnt just add more. perhaps when they have added more items in general (if thats what they want to do) then you could add an additional 1 or 2 masterworks, but you cant have a ridiculous ratio of masterworks to normal items that effects 95% of champions.

:)

note: they have reworked his passive anyways now, but i think the change in mechanic doesnt effect the above points.

Why do the Masterwork items even exist beyond being flavorful, honestly?

Ornn literally has three or four passives depending on how you read that massive block of text.

All the Masterwork passive does is arbitrarily make Ornn's team scale slightly better by way of his existing. Like Twisted Fate's old global passive only more restrictive.

the only reason I can thing of is it might over complicate his passive

It would be more interesting if they made another Ornn master rework item ability on another character. Otherwise it's just a tease

Why wouldn't you be able to buy IE vs a tanky team? It PENETRATES Armor as True damage. Why wouldn't you build that?

item 3153 item 3031 item 3046 item 3124 item 3036 = pwn tanks.

Luminier10/10/2018, 1:22:16 AM1 votes

The only thing I feel that's missing is item 3153. On-hit champions have no options, and while I understand that they don't want Ornn's items to benefit ALL champions, there's a sizable chunk of champions that don't get any benefits from Ornn items. I'd argue that being able to safely incorporate a masterwork item into your build because there was an option for you, but your MasterYi not being able to is unfair.
