I feel like I'm being punished because everyone else forgot to upgrade trinket last season..

I never forgot to upgrade mine. Why do I get stuck with new trinket because 95% of people didn't know how good they were? New trinkets feel so much worse than old upgraded ones. They're not as good. They feel less interactive. And most likely all the people forgetting to upgrade theirs before will just forget they have a trinket at all later in the game and never ward more than their 2-3 wards in laning phase..

I feel like there's a better solution to this problem than forcing the auto upgrade thing on everyone.

Like pop-up 'quest' indicators for people when they hit level 9, reminding them they can upgrade, then once they have a high (>80%) rate of upgrading trinkets, the pop-up will stop showing up.

They really should just make the Yellow trinket scale up to be as good as the old greater stealth totem, i.e. 60-180 second duration, 180-60 second cooldown, holds two charges max.

That I would be fine with.

They could then adjust the blue upgrade and the red trinkets as necessary to compete.

To put it in different words, Riot was basically like: 'Because the vast majority of players were really bad at ward management, we've lowered the skill ceiling of vision control so everyone can feel like they have an equal opportunity to help with the "vision game."'

High skill ceilings are a good thing, they 'separate the good (warders) from the bad (warders)' and all that tagline stuff rito likes... Do we really want to simplify something just because most people don't know how to use it?

Is the next step to dumb down summoner 4 so less people will fail-flash? Gray out flash when you're next to a wall, but not close enough to flash over it?

New trinkets are shit. I miss upgrading my trinket and getting an advantage over those too lazy to do so.

The removal of greens killed it too. They standardized warding and I hate it, if I want to spend a little extra gold so I can have more vision over those who would rather spend gold on damage, then let me be, don't try to make everyone equal in the vision game ffs.

Removing Sightstone from the game with this patch would have been better.

It would have taken away the warding bitch expectation from supports to a degree.

Then Riot with a megaphone could have said "WARDING IS EVERYONES JOB, NOT JUST THAT WARD BAG YOU THINK SUPPORT IS."

Placing a pink ward should give a passive that gives 1 gold per 30 seconds (it would take 37 minutes to pay for itself) and THAT may get the "no ward EVER" tards to ward if they think its giving them gold.

With the removal of sight stone, everyone would have to learn to ward, maybe then they would learn that vision means less deaths, means they live to continue farming instead of dying from an early gank and trying to scapegoat their support.

Heres the thing OP, they didnt "forget" they just dont give a fuck about warding. Increasing the number of things they need to keep track of in match is just too much for them, they valued that 250 gold over seeing the enemy going for an objective, over seeing an incoming mid-laner, over catching the enemy jg out in their jg trying to take the red buff. They didnt care. Selfish, shortsighted, sheeple, teenagers play this game and not surprisingly, dont care about a "Teem" in anyway that dosnt directly help them get fed or make them look good.

Peel, thats for me Im, special. Vision, thats for you, Im special. Farm, thats for me, Im special. Grouping, thats for you, Im special.

So yes OP in a way you are being punish because of everyone else... The trinkets arnt as good, and that makes me sad. Still Riot is determined to make the self-adsorbed player-base of this game WARD DAMNIT even if they have to stop using carrots to get them to, and start using a stick....

Next season I predict "HOT POTATO WARDS" that heat up and deal damage over time if you dont drop them... Though that will probably mean the dumbasses just wont get them from the shop at the start...

Whatever, beware the power of stupid people in large numbers and their inability to give a damn about vision.

I totally agree with you on this one. I really liked the upgraded trinket. Also it really sucks that stealth wards are gone as well. I place at least 15 wards on normally on any champ in any role, most of the time, its between 20 and 30. And even more for supports. I'm only silver, but I'm sure thankful that I understand this fact. It sucks that the wards have charge time instead of charging at base, Because then it makes it really hard to use your 3 ward placements.(not including a pink after that).

On paper, at first this looked good. But after seeing what it was like, I want the old wards back pretty badly.

And that said, sure it might help bronzies and silvers for the most part, but it feels like other elo ranges above that got some big nerfs to vision.

The people forgetting to upgrade were the same dunces who were "forgetting" to ward in general.

Actually, the new yellow trinket does not just feel worse, it is worse at every stage of the game. It only equals out to the previous UNUPGRADED yellow trinket at level 18. If you ever had upgraded your trinket before this is a strict downgrade.

Because of this it makes me think Riot just felt there were too many wards out before and everyone had to much access to vision. Blue trinket is pretty cool though, I'm liking it.

I miss my trinket pink ward upgrade.. :(

Hyrum Graff11/15/2015, 2:57:53 AM2 votes

They said they made this change because they felt like the map was too bright. So, they removed stealth wards from the shop (good change) and made yellow trinket provide less vision at all stages of the game (bad change). Here's to hoping they buff trinkets.

DarkRitual11/15/2015, 12:08:07 PM2 votes

The only trinket feature I miss is a true vision one. I usually upgraded my ward (Upper Bronze support main), and started to get my friends to do it as well. I would like to see an Alteration on the sweeper that gives true vision. A thought would be either a lower-radius true vision sweep, or maybe a true vision cone in the direction you're facing. Another thought for an alteration is making a stationary ward that generates pulses of true vision every 15 seconds.

The way I'd fix this issue is that, rather than giving each person 2 charges, I'd pool all the charges together. So if 4 people have yellow trinket, instead of them each having 2 charges, they'd all have access to 8 charges. So even if someone buys their trinket and then never uses it in game, the other players on the team will have access to that charges being generated from that person's trinket.

The three ward limit would still be in place, so you can't expect one person to place all your teams wards, but at least if you're being put in a position where you are the only one warding, you're not obligated to buy a sightstone since you'll have all their charges available to you.

How would the auto upgrade make a difference, if they just added stealth wards back to the shop?

(Albeit...what about wards relation to gold?_

I loved warding, but the new yellow trinket are so terrible compared to the old one. It makes me loath warding now.

Trinkets should scale to how they used to be at level 9.

edit: made a mistake in wording

cuddlykitten411/15/2015, 6:43:41 PM2 votes

Sometimes you don't want to upgrade your trinket now. You start with the previous green upgrade already on you. However, the new blue trinket upgrade (I forget the names) trades the short range of the trinket drop in return for it being visable on the screen. If everyone upgrades their trinket you never have any trinkets that they can't just destroy when they walk past them. You have to keep a few secrets on your side. I feel like three people should upgrade to blue so you may use them to plan out your moves before you get there since you'll only really need the vision long enough to move on past where you dropped it, but two people should leave them as they are so they can use them to watch anyone approaching from the backside without them realizing that you know that they are there. That being said OP, I totally feel you. I have yet to end a game with anyone else having upgraded their trinkets since the season starts. It's like a guitar player thinking vibrato isn't necessary. "I hit the notes, that's all I need" Oh yea? Well, Captain Planet gave me the power of heart and I'ma stomp you with it.

Honestly, what they did with wards is a great thing. It removes the useless minigame of upgrading trinkets, because that extra 250 gold was really awkward to get sometimes. They streamlined something that was unnessecarily complicated. GOOD JOB RIOT, BEST THING YOU DID THIS PATCH BY FAR

Lintu Puck11/16/2015, 4:50:22 AM1 votes

thing is even with the pop-up not many will even notice or still ignore warding.

Magical Trash11/15/2015, 9:27:17 AM1 votes

I have to agree. I LOVED the old upgraded trinket. When it was in my possession, I felt like I had so much more power to provide vision for my team, but with these changes I find myself placing way less wards than I used to. I have many instances where I want to ward an area but can't because my trinket is on cool down, such instances where if I had the old upgraded trinket that wouldn't be the case.

The charge up time feels significantly worse, and the worst part is that, if I'm not playing support or jungle, there's nothing I can do to provide my team with more vision other than to wait out the trinket cool down. I honestly didn't think this change would be bad at first, but after trying it out it honestly just feels like a flat out nerf, and I don't like it.

I still don't even know how the red ones work. Is it the same as the old version? Should I ever upgrade to the blue one?
