Although ryze was in desparate need of a rework. I am sad that the mana scaling is nerfed to the point where building it is a bad idea. I thought it was cool to have damage that comes from things other than ap/ad.

Sirsir1 votesIts still a thing, to a point. Its just not the full basis of his builds anymore. Plus he now gets a shield that scales with it.
But they are also giving him 30% CDR at max rank of his ult. That means that you literally don't get to build CDR on him, since ult + Sorcery mastery = 35%.

On the CDR thing. The only CDR item he really would build was FH. Now you can build Randuins and a GA or a Thornmail. It really opened up his build if you ask me. But as anyone knows: the true build for Ryze is

I think it's a fair trade. He's squishier when the shield is down but tankier when it's up.
