@Riot What Overwatch Got Right But You Don't

I quit League of Legends for four months to take a breather. I was still very active, annoying, and vocal on the forums but didn't touch the game at all. During my time away I got into the game Overwatch. I returned three days ago and I notice there are a lot of very good things Overwatch is doing that League of Legends is just not doing. I will say this once before I get downvoted and insulted, LEAGUE OF LEGENDS IS A BETTER GAME ALL ROUND. The matchmaking system in League of Legends is better and the reporting system is better. Here are some reasons Overwatch is better than League.

  1. The Development team for Overwatch seem to care about all of their heroes. There are obviously popular heroes in the game that would probably sell better than others, but I noticed though that the Developers create content and work on updates/balance for all heroes and not just the same ones every year. This could be that Overwatch is so new and doesn't have a lot of heroes but it seems like the Developers put more effort, love, and creativity into all of their heroes . . . . . even the bad ones. When you look at League of Legends you see another meta champion getting nerfs/buffs. You see a very popular champion get a very cool themed skin for the sake of popularity and not if the champion actually fits it.

  2. Story. I know what Overwatche's story is and every character is involved in it. I don't know one damn thing about League of Legends lore since it is all changing. There are so many champions ignored in lore. There are so many unanswered questions that have yet to be answered by Developers. There is such a hodgepodge of different stories that no one really know what this game is about.

  3. We all know the only reason you are doing emotes is that of Overwatch and the tag system. You missed out on something like this years ago and it seems like it is going to be a watered down version of what we already have. You also missed out on the opportunity to give us cool emotes for actual champions like Overwatch does.

  4. In game currency has more things to buy in Overwatch. All I can buy in League of Legends are champions and runes that you are removing and replacing with a free rune system. What's the damn point in IP now? Overwatch you have all this stuff to buy with gold coins. In League of Legends we have nothing.

Overwatch has what, 22 characters atm? League has 137-ish I'm pretty sure, so it's kinda unfair to say that Overwatch is better at caring for all it's heroes when OW has 1/7th the amount of champions League has.

Champions and Lore

These problems just stem from Quality vs Quantity. League literally has over 100 more champions than Overwatch has heroes, so it's significantly easier to tie them into lore and balance them against/with each other.

On point 2: first, OW has much fewer heroes than league has champions. Second, League is very much still in an infant stage when it comes to lore. Since they separated the world from the game, they've mostly been updating each character to have a solid foundation in Runterra. Is it slow? Yes, I'm not going to argue against that. But you can't say Riot isn't doing anything for lore

On point 4: they have said that there will he changes to the whole game economy in preseason due to the runes update, and that there will be more into closer to that. Until then, we just have to be patient.

The Overwatch meta is disgustingly stagnant if you ask me. People complain about LOL's meta, but at least things change. I fill in OW which is a fancy way of saying that I play support, and all I ever get to play is Ana since there's literally two proper healers to choose from. They really need to just say screw it to balance and release a bunch of characters at once to try and give it some variety.

One thing I want them to bring to LOL from OW would be Quick Play, since after a long day I just want my fast food gaming... If they brought back Team Builder that could do the job :P

You know we have that, it's called blind pick, but i bet you wanna choose your role, so we have normal draft.

and lastly teambuilder is farthest from what can be considered quick play, because it had massive queues.

First thing: i'm a huge fan of OW and I really like the game ... but i do like LoL as well ... and every game has its own advantages .... u talked about how OW's heroes are well designed and develeped ... and i agree... but don't forget that LoL was released back in 2009.. and they have more hamp so they need more time to update them .. so lets wait and see.

For the story ... what makes OWs' story looks good and better than LoL (in my opinion) is the Short animated .... cuz they bring more lore than LoL's cinematic (New dawn in particular which is just a presentation of a 5v5 game with 10 random champions ... i mean where is lore riot !! ) but they started to work on it ... notice Xayah and Rakan cinematic ... and don't forget that Riot has a lot of faction and stories than OW (OW got Overwatch blackwatch Omnic and talon lore i think ?! correct me if i'm wrong)

For the game currency ... don't forget that OW is not free ... so if u have access to the game .. blizzard have alrady made some benefits ... BUT for riot game ... u can play the game for free .. u can get some free hextech loots ... else... if u want some skins then u have to pay ... and with that money riot can make the game better and add more content.
