Fighters are not tanks. If I'm playing
or
as a fighter, I might build a tanky item as a sixth, but I'm not going tanky.
That seems really sub-optimal as Shyv.
She doesn't have a kit that really works well with glass-cannons, and she deals considerable damage with tanky builds.
Also - main difference between a fighter and a tank isn't the build, it's what you actually accomplish despite the build.
Tanks and a Fighter/tanks build out of the defensive tree in the shop.
Main difference is tanks are tanky CC and fighters are tanky DPS.
Most fighter/tanks are very much like Nasus where they deal carry-status damage without itemizing much for damage at all.
Fighters just tend to use tank as a means to survive long enough to do their job just as mages, assassins, and marksman utalize range, mobility, or a combination of both.
Fighters don't exactly want to tank damage, it's more a means to an end in their case, allowing them to close in to do work.
Tanks actually want to soak damage, because their main goal is to lock down opponents and initiate fights, fulfilling more of a supportive roll.
Anyways - the amount of tanky items you build isn't the separation between tank and fighter, it's more the job your champion is optimized towards doing (generally with a lot of tanky items in either case).
Which gets back to allies being silly by expecting you to do something your champion isn't supposed to do.
It's just - itemization isn't really the point to contest over in regards to fighter/tanks and tanks.
