This has to do with the champion. Since TF leans forward he's actually further back than he looks.

Just another thing Riot needs to clean up. I believe there are a few champions like this.

Visuals need to be changed to match the hitboxes.

You see, the hook has a HUGE width, which makes it impossible to fit between minions and such. Makes landing the hook in lane very hard, as in order to get an angle to grab, you have to make a huge obvious set up. A thinner hook would be a buff to people who know how to use it.

You should see jinx ult. In fact, look at it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RYLNNktVSg Now CSI ENHANCE!

There's a whole fizz and more space between him and the rocket and he still get hit.

Obviously there's some hitbox issues here, but people keep forgetting when they post this stuff that A) A champion hitbox is almost always a rectangular "box", and as someone pointed out, TF leans forward so his "box" is closer to the hook than it looks.

On top of that, people keep forgetting Thresh's hook is a hook, pointing out "look how far from the chain they are!". The hook is much wider.

It's pretty retarded that Ashes Huge Crystal arrow has thinner projectile than Nidalee/Thresh/Blitz grab...

What the f*ck?

Keep in mid, his hook hit box doubles when it reaches max range.

It looks like it may have barely clipped the edge of TF's hit box. It's hard to tell from the small image though.

...Might need to nerf the width of that skillshot, huh Riot? :|

Wait, wait, wait....

People are genuinely implying that Thresh is OP?

AHAHAHAHAHA, HAHAHAHA.... AHAAAAAAAA.

I really, really hope you aren't serious.

Thresh's Q has a width to it. It is about the width of thresh himself. Here's a vid where we can see the projectile width based on his range indicator

https://youtu.be/t-GCAZDhD7k

Based on how close TF is to the hook, it's very likely he would have been hit by the hook.

edit:looking at the video again, I noticed that Thresh's hook visually flies through the air (it doesn't touch the ground), and therefore looks like it's aimed up slightly more than it actually is.

OmniMoto4/13/2015, 8:10:58 PM2 votes

You noticed how his hook has a hook at the end of it? yeah, thats why the hitbox is large, because the hook makes it wider

Hiemdol4/13/2015, 10:08:48 PM2 votes

So as a preface, I do not really have an opinion about the hit box of Thresh's hook. That being said giving anecdotal evidence is not really proof of balance or lack thereof. As I understand this there could be two explanations for this happening.

One there actually is a disparity of hit-boxes with Twisted Fate, Thresh's hook, or both resulting in hooks landing when visuals would say they should not.

Two the game does not constantly calculate game state changes. While it does so at regular intervals (.25 seconds for most updates if memory serves) there are moments where game states are changing in between calculations. In these screen shots the hook is being thrown while the two champs are almost in melee range. This could also be a rare case of game state calculations deciding the hooks was landing at a calculation interval but movement occurred between calculations making the hook look like a miss.

Without more information on several factors that went into this picture it is hard to infer anything about the actually balance of Thresh's hook hit-box.

I'll be honest here, I feel the bit of leeway given on his hook is necessary. Without it, that's like trying to land a slightly slower and narrower Ezreal Q that has an obvious wind-up. At least it's not Blitzcrank width.

Schteltzer4/14/2015, 5:23:39 PM1 votes

why arent you qqing about zed?

Apollocliptic4/14/2015, 5:24:57 PM1 votes

This proves nothing, ultimately it comes down to the targets ability to predict the hook, and the thresh's ability to predict the targets direction. I have never seen a static target, move out of the way of a thresh hook, in the time it takes for it to land, only the thresh overcompensates for how far the champ will move, or the champ knows when to (and not to) change direction to avoid it

MetalGearTeemu4/13/2015, 9:18:34 PM1 votes

I 100% agree OP, Riot should send a strong message regarding this by nerfing Blitzcrank again.

There is no reason why that champion should ever be picked over a CertainlyT champ in it's slot.
