ARAM Advice: No Tanks??

Elite4Runner··4 votes·2,317 views

If this message sinks into just one person, I will feel like I have truly accomplished something.

If you are playing ARAM,

And your team is randomly rolled any less than 2 HONESTY TANKS, with some decent peel,

nobody

NOBODY

On your team should be building pure carry.

EVERYONE is going to need at least 1 defensive item.

Unless your enemies are just completely stupid

It's ARAM, who really cares?

Elite4Runner5 votes

Well, probably the other people who are playing ARAM.

If you don't care, you probably don't play it.

Ralanr3 votes

I play ARAM and build what I want because I play it for fun.

Elite4Runner6 votes

Okay?

A lot of people consider winning to be fun.

Ralanr1 votes

Ok? So you're going to demand others try hard in a fun game mode because only winning is fun to you?

Elite4Runner4 votes

Did I demand anything?

I said this was advice.

If you want to be a troll and greatly increase the chances of losing the match for the 4 other people on your team, go right ahead.

You clearly enjoy trolling me here, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to know that you do it in game as well.

Ralanr2 votes

Yes, I am a troll because I disagree with your advice.

Considering I'm probably one of the few people that builds tanks full tank in ARAM, no I don't think I troll in game either.

jpguy9021 votes

Changing your build by one item is not "try harding"

Ralanr1 votes

I'll admit the term "try Harding" was extreme there. Though it doesn't mean I'm a troll for disagreeing.

jpguy9021 votes

That's true, I should have replied to your other post that involved what I was referencing. I didn't mean you were trolling.

Elite4Runner2 votes

Since we are all apologizing

I will admit that I took more offense to your comments because of how annoyed I was toward the other person. They were really being more of the troll, not you.

Still, I don't really like the whole concept of "Who cares, It's ARAM"

It's not that I care overly, as I said in a different comment, I generally don't even mind losing if it is a good game, but the ultimate goal is really to win.

It isn't so much of a sense of trying to feel like I am the God of ARAM, but it still makes me feel as though I am improving my ability with different champions.

A huge part of why I enjoy ARAM is because I have always sucked at being a one-trick, so I actually don't even like having to pick from every champion that I own on this account, .. which happens to be all of them. ... So I like to let the game do it for me.

Ralanr2 votes

Apology accepted. No harm done.

ARAM is great for learning teamfights and practicing champions outside your comfort zone, but everyone plays for one reason or another.

some of my favorite games are where I played supremely well and still lost, I think it comes down tp reference

Elite4Runner1 votes

Sure, but I think a majority of people still prefer to win.

I've had many of those myself, but if I had managed to pull off the victory, it would have felt that much better.

R1NGW0LF1 votes

just keep in mind that yelling at the other players in chat will sometimes make them not care for the game. when I get enough hate speech I'll just sit under turret and refuse to do anything else until I feel like they'll stop being an ass. losing happens and only one side can win, just enjoy the fact that ya can play

Elite4Runner1 votes

I don't ever yell at anyone in my matches.

I might get frustrated at them, but I don't get toxic because I know that it won't help.

I am sharing it here because I honestly think that some people don't understand that it is generally better to play ARAM with a defensive sustain mindset than full offensive unless you have a team composition that can peel for you.

Shadòw2 votes

so you are one of this guys who goes full tryhard even in ARAM?

in Aram you should go AP/AD no matter what.

Elite4Runner4 votes

No, I'm just one of those people who likes to actually win when I play.

When you build full AD or AP and the enemy has engage, but you have no peel, ... you die.

Shadòw1 votes

that's basically the definition of tryhard

Elite4Runner4 votes

Sure, .. I try to win, so I am a tryhard.

If that makes you feel better about yourself, absolutely.

Shadòw1 votes

you are on of these people who i ask myself why they even bother playing a fun gamemode instead of Ranked

Elite4Runner3 votes

With the kind of logic you are applying to your comments, it's no wonder you have yet to find an answer.

Shadòw1 votes

it is logic.

why do you go for the full tryhard in ARAM? you don't gain anything from a win there

Elite4Runner4 votes

Why do you troll people's post when you don't even care about ARAM?

I'm offering advice for people who actually want to win.

Shadòw2 votes

i play ARAM too, but when i do and get a tank i go full Damage anyway simply cause it's fun and winning means nothing in the end.

but you seem like one of these kind of people who go full LCS Analytic and comment on every item and move you make because they just want to win, the worst kind of people.

Elite4Runner1 votes

No, I don't comment on anyone's items in game.

I normally play the tank so that I can peel for the carries because I know that everyone does it.

But when my whole team gets wiped no matter what I do, and i'm getting my ass hammered by all 5 of the enemy team because all of my carries think more attack speed and life steal is going to somehow help them live a little longer, ..

It does get pretty irritating.

Ralanr1 votes

As a tank main, I know your pain. Sadly there's only so much we can do.

Elite4Runner1 votes

Well, the whole point was, .. for those other people who are actually wanting to win, .. buy 1 defensive item and it might make all the difference.

I really don't see why I got jumped on for this post.

Ralanr1 votes

It kinda sounded like you were dictating on what people should buy on a casual mode.

Elite4Runner1 votes

Again, it was advice.

Even the title says that it is advice.

Yeah, I was pretty stern in the body of the post, but that is meant to say that even the carries need to tough it out and pick up some defensive items.

The people who are playing full carry tend to be the ones who complain the most when they are behind in my experience.

Probably because they get deleted the fastest. Go figure.

Ikr? "WTF WHY DO I DIE SO QUICKLY?!" Is so common for full damage carries.

Shadòw1 votes

that's why you build damage, so you can wipe their team first

Elite4Runner1 votes

This is when I get rolled a tank.

By design a tank is not really able to out damage an average of 3 carries on the enemy's team.

And when your own team is too far back to help you when you engage because they die to a sneeze, ..

I might as well just be feeding.

Shadòw1 votes

ye but it is fun

Elite4Runner1 votes

Honestly, if these same people weren't bitching at me about it, I probably would just think that it was fun.

I really don't even mind losing, but I do enjoy winning more.

Minarde1 votes

Considering I'm a good enough player to hit Gold for the skin reward, yet not good enough to hit Challenger for the physical reward, I don't really gain anything from ranked either. As such, I might as well play a game mode that I enjoy.

Though I'd probably play ranked ARAM if that was an option.

Stars Shaper4 votes

Just fyi:

ARAM is still about destroying the enemy core. Trying to win =/= tryharding. No1 in ARAM actually cares of CS and leaving kills to carries. Wanting to win isn't a bad thing, a real random mode would be a mode where on a random map you get to kill random things with other players achieving a common goal.

zlumpy2 votes

Depends on your team tbh. If you have 5 long range poke champs then going full dmg isn't a terrible idea. Just make sure to win before the game drags on and the other team rebounds.

Stars Shaper1 votes

Unless you get Leona not even tanks are going to build tanky. And I've even seen AD Leona more than once. It looks like building tanky shortens your e-peen.

Ralanr2 votes

Tank Sion is OP on ARAM.

Sion is fucking hilarious on ARAM.

Stars Shaper1 votes

Doesn't matter. Ppl will build him full AD, full AP or even full mana regen just because being a tank makes you a loser in their eyes.

Ralanr2 votes

Meh, those people just don't understand the power that is full tank Sion ARAM.

Lauchmelder1 votes

I hate playing tanks in SR (because I suck, I just can't get tanky) but DAMN, Sion is busted in ARAM. The enemy team took literally 20 seconds to get me to a third of my health. I just disengaged and was back to full thanks to Warmogs in the blink of an eye.

Alex h87211 votes

item 3027 into full tank Nautilus or Malphite. That is all

Elite4Runner1 votes

ROA is one of the most common items that I build in ARAM I feel.

The great amount of health, mana, and AP it offers is fantastic for anyone who scales on AP.

Along with the flat mana, the Eternity passive pretty much eliminates any mana issues.

When I am playing a champion who doesn't scale on AP, but I still need some good mana sustain, I usually go with Righteous Glory for the same reason. And the Active effect is good for engaging as well.

Then depending on the champion, the team, and how ahead or behind we are, I will either go for full offensive, or AP + Resistance items like Zhonia's and Abyssal.

Honestly if in aram the other team has more tanks than you, theres just no point in playing because tanks in aram are a free win. Doesn't matter if they have veigar, fiddles, varus, etc. I've been keeping track and 100% of the time the team with more tanks wins.
