Karma Always Gets Ignored and Not Being Addressed
Karma's Timeline After VGU
- VGU that removed her identity as a battlemage, removed skill expression from her Mantra, half completed art assets were implemented, and much more damaging elements added to existing Karma.
- Karma had to numbers buffed into oblivion to make a kit that made no sense and no one appreciated at the time, to work.
- Shield Bomb was removed for no real reason and thus removed the only skill expression she had left.
- Back and fourth nerfs that constantly puts her in limbo, despite Developers saying she needs a lot of work on an art and gameplay level.
- A new champion is given Karma's iconic shield bomb, but she is left with a Mantra E that exists on champion kits and item actives.
- Cancelled gameplay update that was the only positive thing she had going for her in all of 6 years.
- Developers continuing with the back and fourth nerfs that don't address Karma's problems for 6 years now.
Karma's Problems
- No gameplay identity at all. Tell us what Karma does that no other champion does better? There are champions who have better engage and disengage, better damage, better shields, and better utility. Being a generalist champion with no definitive gameplay identity, is not a gameplay identity at all. Before Karma had the gameplay identity of a battlemage with interactive abilities on allies, which would make her a battlemage/support by todays standards. Every Mantra ability back then had another use other than just one shotting someone to all of their health, being abused for a broken heal, and sitting in the back-line and pressing Mantra E to hopefully be useful.
- Conflicting abilities that fit different playstyles. Is Karma a artillery mage, support, tank, or something else entirely?
- A bland and one dimensional kit that offers nothing new to the game or Karma. Karma is the complete opposite of new champions who have too many mechanics and things going on in their kits.
- Incomplete art assets that are constantly being played off as successful, when in reality it's an insult to a work ethic that is consistently boasted for it's finesse and creativity.
- It's hard to balance a champion who is so boring and offers nothing new to the game, that they have to be numbers buffed into existence. Unfortunately Karma is a balance mess between pro and normal play.
- Finally, when Karma is strong she is extremely irritating to play against. When Karma is weak she is extremely irritating to play as. This is a MAJOR indication that the kit, lack of original concepts, horrible numbers buff, and lack of a gameplay identity is not working for Karma.
I don't have to spell it out for anyone at this point and I don't want to sit here and argue which champion deserves more than another. It's been six years and Karma's timeline will tell you there are problems, player frustrations on both sides, and the fact that this champion is straight up being neglected. The Developer who worked on Karma's GU earlier this year wasn't given enough time and resources to do what was necessary, because this person had to be taken away and put on the now TFT team (unless it was for some other reason). This person even asked for it and Meddler said no. Guess what happened? The GU was cancelled. Now, Riot Game Developers numbers buffed her a few weeks ago where they already nerfed her shortly after and now the intended purpose of the buffs, are being nerfed in 9.15. Riot Games are dong the back and fourth buffs and nerfs again when the entire point of buffing Karma a few weeks ago was to increase her Support performance. Well, now she is going to be in the same spot she was in before. This is the proof that there is a larger problem with the champion's gameplay identity and kit, because the back and fourth buffs and then nerfs shortly after are basically confirming a problem.
Myself and so many other players have been saying this for years.
