Can we get a recycling system for runes?

So I have some of those runes.... the ones from when I started playing the game back in season 3. You probably have some of your own too. I'm talking the tier 2 runes. They are great for beginners, even better now that they are going to cost 1ip, but for some of us they are quite an eyesore since we have no use for them. Even if there will be no ip refund since they are going to have a negligible cost I would still like a system to where we can kiss these runes goodbye.

If there can be a modest refund on tier 3 runes even better.

I'd even settle for crushing them into champ essence (not skin essence since runes are bought with ip).

There used to be a way to reforge runes and create new ones by combining them together. If I recall, the same update that removed this feature also severely dropped the price of lower tier runes, allowing them to be more accessible to lower level players.

Since then, riot has purposefully stayed away from making changes to runes in general. Rather than focus on the micro stats they give, riot has been reworking champ groups and masteries to provide more unique and noticeable effects in the game (runes used to be balanced and changed quite comonly).

I wouldn't expect any big changes to runes this season. Next season they might add quintessence runes that act like keystone masteries, but refunds and sell backs are not something riot ever likes to implement.

If you have extra tier 2, try them out in your experimental builds before dropping all your IP on the t3 stuff (which can be very expensive without much more benefits).
