You wouldn't chase Singed..

So why are you still trying to chase Kalista?

I just saw a post complaining about how a low HP Kalista kited a Warwick to death. My question is, why was Warwick chasing Kalista in the first place? Go take a tower. Kalista wants to fight? Kill her. She just wants to kite you? Make her jump away (out of range) then go back to slaughtering her team, or her tower.

Kalista is an adc. If she's not doing damage, she's useless. If she's out of range, she's not doing damage. Taking her out of the fight is nearly as useful for your team as killing her, because your adc is doing damage while theirs isn't.

Kalista is certainly strong right now. She's a little more mobile than she should be, and her objective control is really strong, but she's also strong because people haven't understood how to play against her yet.

You have to treat Kalista like a full AP Singed. If she lets you hit her, pop her. If she's running away from you, for the love of Doran, don't chase her.

Edit on why I'm comparing Kali to Singed even though they have different roles.

I'm comparing Kalista to Singed because of the way we think about Singed. Everybody knows you shouldn't chase Singed. I'm suggesting that we also need to stop thinking about Kalista as if she's just like any other adc, and start thinking about her like, "I need to zone kali out of the fight, not kill her."

ADC were supposed to be the vulnerable damage dealers who, if caught out meant being punished for that. Any other carry would have died in that situation. Why does this new champion all of the sudden have that exemption?

Because Kalista has other weaknesses. She's much easier to zone out of a fight than other adcs because her range is short and her reverse dash is so far. Actually, perhaps a better phrasing would be, "it's much easier to force her to zone herself out of a fight."

If you want to talk about ADCs, why bring up Singed then? No champion in the game is without weaknesses - noting that Kalista has a weakness means nothing. Then again, that debate is neither here nor there - I'm just posting to argue how comparing Kalista to Singed is a bad choice.

In fact, ease of zoning from a fight is the exact reason you can't afford to ignore Kalista, while you're supposed to ignore a Singed... because if you don't chase the Kalista, she can DPS your team from a safe range.

I'm going to edit this into the OP for clarity:

Yeah, I feel like her Kiting is Overrated. Paticularlly when you compare the flat DPS from other ADCs.

Because Singed and Kalista fill 2 very different roles on their team. One's tanky, the other isn't. One's melee (easy to reach), and the other isn't. One can be ignored when you let them flee, the other can't...

You're not suggesting we just ignore the ADC in teamfights, are you?

Why not? If Kalista is fleeing, turn around, away from her, and kill her team. When she comes back, force her to jump out of range again. She'll be getting off, like, an aa per second, which is pitiful dps for an adc.

Also pitiful for her rend stacks. If she tries to kite you, stay so far away from her that she loses out on ripping those spears out entirely, or force her to rip them out before she's able to stack them up, putting that ability away for a while unless she's been able to pop a few in a minion.

This. People complain that adcs are homogeneous -- that there's no variety -- and then Riot makes an adc who you have to play against differently... and everyone loses their shit over it.
