[HYPOTHESIS] Imagine if turrets were completely removed from the game

Have you ever felt like turrets end up helping your ENEMIES more than you? This happens far too much for me, such that I'm seeing my own team's turrets as the enemy. Seriously, minions are more helpful than they are.

This makes me wonder what would happen if Riot were simply to go "screw it" and completely remove turrets from the game. All they do, IMO, is make games take longer, and they don't contribute meaningfully to fast-paced gameplay.

Just humor the idea and pretend turrets were suddenly taken out of the game. What do you think that would do?

Sounds like a fun game mode RIOT could experiment with, but definitely not the norm. That would make this game boring as hell. This would make every gank 100% successful during the laning phase.

A fun way they could do this game mode would be to keep the Nexus turrets and beef them up to Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta 1 shot kamehameha killing machines, forcing you to push the minion wave (think DoTA, can't damage turret without creep wave)

The game mode would need to have free warding. With no turrets, it'd be impossible to survive ganks.

summoner 12summoner 11 would both need to be disabled for this game mode.

Every minion wave from start to finish would need to have 2 buffed minions (one siege and one caster) that deal reasonable damage to stop over aggressively champs like Olaf from just diving you every time starting at level 3.

The jungle camps as well as dragon would need to be buffed so that the jungler would need help from someone in lane to clear the camps. Would need to be 4v4 or 6v6 to negate some of the OPness of the jungler as well. In 5v5 the only real help against the enemy jungler would be your own jungler.

This game mode would also make certain champs like Nasus Veigar irrelevant while champs like Bard Rammus Shen SkarnerEvelynn would be OP.

Yeah, that pretty much summarizes how "helpful" they are...

I don't exactly get what that was supposed to prove. Corki wasn't in turret range except at the end, when the turret actually started hitting the Graves. And by that time, Corki was already low enough and Graves had enough damage that he could just take the couple of shots needed to grab first blood

Massive buff to proxy farmers, maybe? Turrets not only attack but also grant vision in key areas. Also, since turrets can deal with minion waves pretty well, it would be a huge nerf to champions with low waveclear early game. Duelists will snowball hard, and since the only meaningful objective is dragon and baron, champions like Tristana and Jinx will fall out of favor (Although Jinx may still be a good pick because of her Q).

So whoever can snowball the fastest and who can push well is gonna win. So basically how the game is like now.

Well, every single champion that isn't amazing early game would be ignored. Due to no towers, you'd just see 5 really strong level 1 people attacking an inhibitor while 5 also strong level 1 people try to defend and hope they can.

  • Absolutely destroy any hope you had of being alive vs. a shitload of champs
  • disqualify a shitload of champs because of their average and below laning phase
  • overall make the game geared towards tankier champs/champs with escapes
    • Basically assassins, tanks, some fighters, some mages. squishy supports are almost out completely.

sounds really, really anti-fun, tbh.

You could just play ARAM. Going solo lane would be too dangerous, when the enemy can just walk behind you through the jungle, and win a gank.
