For any players interested in trying out Aatrox

Have you ever stumbled upon a youtube video or an old guide featuring Aatrox and thought to yourself "man, that champs looks fun but I have no idea how to play him at all!" and never pursued playing Aatrox? Or maybe you've played him before but he just doesn't feel good to you anymore and you've start to devalue having him as apart of your champion pool. Regardless of the reason, here are some general things on how to improve yourself as an Aatrox player.

  1. Only choose Aatrox because you WANT to play him. Forcing yourself to play something isn't going to help you or your teammates. The goal of this game is not just to get better at it but also to have fun as well. If you're not enjoying yourself, well you're only getting half of the experience.

  2. Think of Aatrox as a beginner champion, a template that can be moulded into various different play-styles and roles but not exactly the best in any of these categories. Aatrox is very basic champion that has a pretty simple kit but don't let that fool you, mastering Aatrox means honing your own individual skills and this can transition into other champions along the way.

  3. Accept that when you first play Aatrox or any other champion for the matter, most of the time you're going to feed. It's a part of getting better and there's no helping it. Just live and learn... or feed and learn in this case.

  4. The best way to get better and learn build paths is to experiment for yourself. Regardless of what guides tell you (even some of the crap I'm saying), you should always try things out and see how they work for you. Even if a build has a really high winrate, if it doesn't work for you - it doesn't work for you. Take what you can from it and adapt it to suit yourself. Despite saying this however, here are some generic cookie-cutter builds that have a lot versatility offering a bit of everything: Top lane: item 3074 item 3153 item 3047 item 3065 item 3143 item 3156 Jungle: item 1416 item 3153 item 3006 item 3742 item 3124 item 3026

  5. Think of every match up as skill match-up. While you will have easier and harder match ups with certain champions, the one major factor that can be changed every game is your own performance so focus on that. The more confidence you build up playing Aatrox into harder match ups, the better you will get at not only the champion but your overall understanding of the game and how other champions interact with each other.

  6. Don't be embarrassed to play against Bots. One of the greatest tools given to you is the ability to play against bots. Jump straight into intermediates and see how you fair. In bots you can practice a whole array of things including but not limited to: trading, chasing/kiting, orb walking, build paths, roaming, timers, csing, survival, etc. When you get better, try increasing the odds and make it a 1v3 or 1v5 vs bots in customs.

  7. Don't be afraid to take risks, if you see an opportunity to try something then by all means try. You can't build upon a foundation if you haven't got one. Start by going small (All ins against opponent, roaming, etc) and then lead up to higher risk higher reward scenarios (1v2ing when you got a lead, flash + Qing into a cluster of enemies to set up for your team, etc).

  8. Remember to communicate with your team if you're trying to do things. This is not really Aatrox specific but since he excels at split pushing and duelling, make use of the ping system and tell your team to back off when you're going for an objective and show them where you're headed for.

  9. Learn from other players. Here are a couple of videos I think demonstrate a good understanding of Aatrox. *Best Aatrox Korea Top vs Illaoi | Korea High Elo - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw5biVQLiIk *【第一厄薩斯Aatrox 熾天使】大號場:復活 vs 無敵 ! - S7 Aatrox Mains - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqc6oganXKM *Top 5 Tips for Playing Aatrox - A Comprehensive League Of Legends Guide Series - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUPNrixYIIE Aatrox Guide - Comprehensive Tips and Tricks - Step Up Your Game- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqd6--Wcy2I

  10. Be patient, you're only taking your first baby steps here. Unless you were born to play Aatrox, you're not just gonna get better over night. Keep at the game, know when to take breaks and continue your pursuit to get better.

Alright well that's all I have for today, hope this helps you guys out. Happy holidays, happy new year and good luck.

I pretty much made this thread after watching that haha. I'm more of top Aatrox player so I can't really help with jungling but... I've done it before and especially against someone like Lee Sin, you are incredibly vulnerable early game. Going Q like video says may indeed fuel up your bloodwell faster but if you get counter jungled you are basically screwed :c
