In the last few hours/days, Riot actually seems to hear us now

A massive thank you to Riot Maple Nectar for his presence on some recent gameplay-related threads. Also, Meddler seems having noticed the huge number of unsatisfied players who don't enjoy the insane damage creep that is present in the game right now (You should all go read his most recent "Quick Gameplay Thoughts" )

I don't even care if the upcoming changes are going to change something, the simple fact that the balance team might start seeing all the unsatisfation concerning the game and is begining to think about how they could fix this directly is EXTREMELY relieving. After months of having the sensation of being heard only partly by the balance team, I'm starting to have hope that either this season will finish in a better way than how it started or that Season 9 might be more enjoyable.

Thank you

EDIT: You guys need to stop jumping to conclusions. I'm NOT stating that the game will definitely get fixed, but we are definitely at a better spot if Riot, instead of ignoring the complains, are actually discussing about it.

I will wait until I actually see changes being implemented. I believe that Riot has always seen a lot of discussion around topics such as damage creep, mobility creep, towers being garbage, etc. but just chosen to ignore them for one reason or another.

Breezey Boy24 votes

I have hope, but I don't trust them to follow through on anything they said until the changes are actually implemented. Riot has a tendency to say a lot, but do little, often going back on their own words or becoming hypocrites in the process.

PistoCara17 votes

Sure, they've "heard us."

But are they really listening? The answer is no, not one bit and it shows in this dwindling game.

La Bello16 votes

they "heard" us when we said the rune reforged blue essence refunds/conversion was too low and veteran players were getting the short end of the stick.

they "heard" us when we said Flex Que was awful idea yet it was forced anyway.

hearing and actually doing are two different things. Honestly the post I read today didn't renew my faith in Riot. Only it reassured me that they were still going to repeat past mistakes as they've been doing this entire season.

Tanks as a whole have been surgically removed from the ecosystem so you will buff 5 of them randomly to fix the problem? Rather than addressing the GROSS amount of true damage/%max HP abilities and slew of items, runes and effects purposefully made to obliterate them?

Them playing modest mouse about "Damage actually isn't higher people just think it is cuz new healthbars" even though you can statistically easily prove thats not the fact there has in fact been ridiculous TTK creep or how disruptive damage runes have been especially scorch/aery/electrocute.

Then there is the ever looming thought that Riot might wait way until next preseason to actually do the changes they need to do and rather we are going to be stuck in this hell meta for the next few months. Only the next month of PBE updates will tell. My fingers are crossed though i dont think I'll stop playing League but holy hell my dissatisfaction is immeasurable

November 2017 --> July/August 2018.

Not many expectations, since the people are still the same that pushed the game in its current state, and didn't care at all untill their player base really vanished.

Death by Glamour8 votes

didn't they also say that damage has infact not increased, despite the stats showing that games now which are considerably shorter having similar damage to those games from seasons past which were longer. DPS for lack of a better term has infact increased.

I will second what breezy boy has said, talk is cheap lets wait for them to fix things before we pat them on the back

Leetri2 votes

Damage in total hasn't increased, it's just more frontloaded so it FEELS like there's more. The new runes also makes damage very visceral (like Aery jumping on you or you getting electrocuted) compared to the old runes and masteries that probably did around the same damage but silently. No one is gonna notice if you have 15 more AD than usual, but they will notice a blue comet flying towards them. Also, where did you find those stats? I've not seen anyone mention any source.

Khelb2 votes

True dmg, %hp dmg, lethality combined with a lack of good defensive options = you're completely wrong about everything you just said.

Terozu2 votes

Hes not though. Statistically damage has barely if at all increased. Its just more burst oriented.

For instance, Electrocute has twice the cooldown of Thunderlords, but also twice the damage. The damage has not actually increased, it just happens all at once instead of being spread out.

Khelb3 votes

I can, with 100% certainty, say that since season 4 damage is significantly higher now. I can, with 100% certainty, say that since season 4 defensive options are worse now. I can, with 100% certainty, say that you are completely wrong. I've been playing lulu since before she was able to gimp people at level 2. It's changed and it's changed for the worse. NEXT

Terozu1 votes

Lulu has always been able to gimp people at level 2.

You just weren't as good at Lulu.

Defensive items may be worse but damage is still the same.

Khelb1 votes

Wrong, NEXT

Yeah no its not wrong.

Yes, back then my 2.100 HP have been taken away in 8 seconds with counterplay. Now my 2.100 HP are taken away in 0.1 seconds by any Duskblade or Cleaver user.

Same damage, see? ALL GOOD!!111!!!!111 /s

Terozu1 votes

Yes same damage it's just that armor is worse. Damage has not increased armor has gotten worse.

Keep in mind they didn't listen to "us".

They listened to a reddit thread complaining about damage that got 10k+ upvotes.

DarwinTheory5 votes

Emmmm.....

So basically Tenecent management noticed the playerbase has dropped dramatically and so did their profits and so told Meddler and Co. to pull their shit together or get replaced /sacked.

That's typically the action when company staff stop giving a shit about their customers and profits suffer.

DW Diana3 votes

I will believe riot are listening when the respond to people in their own threads properly. Second comment in that thread asks about Azir and Malz. Look back for the last 4 months and you will see people asking about the same champions with no response. Hell one guy spent 2 months responding to meddlers threads asking about Malzahar, and never received a response.

When ignoring people is no longer the "go to", they might choose to replace it with listening, but I've yet to see any REAL evidence of that as of yet.

It's a start, for sure, and I do think Maple Nectar in particular deserves recognition for participating on the Boards. I'm still cautious, however, since this activity still isn't that much, is still extremely vague, and in the instance of that statistics post on snowballing, was also dishonest and wilfully deceptive. It's good that Riot is finally starting to broach the topic of damage, but we're still not really seeing anything but the most general of platitudes being acknowledged by the developers (and even that much is a contentious topic within the team, apparently). Baby steps and all, but I do think the appropriate response here should be tempered and critical optimism.

Now lets hope that now that their eyes are open that they will revert Runes Reforged.

We need fully customizable runes back (so we can pick armor/MR all depending on the match-up).

''Community said Duskblade should be removed''

Riot puts new item that is even broken than Duskblade.

Community again rages Riot: " i don't know what they want..." xD

Stormrazor is small fry compared to Duskblade.

I dislike that Meddler is discussing changes for specific tank champs instead of addressing the systematic issue of lack of good defensive options across the board. It sounds like a cheap way to say "see, we heard you guys and made 4 changes to 4 champs" while those changes will have nothing to fucking do with the problems in the game and will likely not make those champs any tankier to begin with. That's been what I've seen the last 2-3 years at least.

However, if they actually address lethality, true dmg, and %hp dmg I might actually play this game again...it's been almost 2 years now.

AirKingNeo2 votes

Nothing in that "Gameplay Thoughts" mentions Damage Creep.

Nor should it ever take 2+ months just for a problem to be solved.

2 months? It's been since November man. Try 8+

I still haven't heard anything about Ascension/Dominion. LoL currently lacks a fast mode that we can just queue up and play what we like, which is what these two game modes offer. Bringing either of them back would really help improve this game's overall diversity, as well as reduce the frustration that comes with playing SR/TT for too long.

I agree with you, maple nectar is doing a great job. As for the changes, we'll have to wait and see what meddler got for us. Hope it's gonna make a lot of things better!

I must say i do kind of feel ashamed of the community for raging constantly at riot it must be really stressful and i kinda feel like if riot dont have fun then do we... but at the same time it was necessary to speak up on boards about the major problems that this season has so riot can fix and improve on this ........

Basically rito Sorry on behalf of the community for raging D: but thankyou for finally acknowledging us :)

Madsin254 votes

All of the bitching on the boards was for nothing.

They didn't do anything until reddit bitched.

Vlada Cut1 votes

You don't care if they change something? All you care is seek attention from Rioters whether it's positive or not? Well, not caring is partly what lead this game downwards anyways.

apollö1 votes

Hey congrats two people responded to the community and they've done literally nothing to balance the game this whole season and the boards have looked the exact same every day. People talking about the same problems and same champions everyday and riot has done nothing about it. Player count dropping, twitch viewers dropping, lcs viewers dropping. riot is trash and ruining a once great game

swimcris1111 votes

No, they definitely haven't since Quinn still has yet to be hotfixed to give the most op ult in the game any CD and her any counterplay at all.

hotarse1 votes

Dood. They've sucked NA dry and it wasn't even that hard. They started with the gamers and offered a game that would appeal to people who could give it some cred. The whales from that group started to dry so they decided to appeal more to the casual gamers who also spent tons of money. But once someone gets the skins they want and don't really feel compelled to get others, they stop being spenders. Now Tencent is sucking dry the moneys from Asia. They don't need to listen to U.S. since for the most part that market's been tapped dry. Stick to developers who leave greed to others if you want people to listen to you and not just tell you what you want to hear so that your wallets opens once more.

Deathfall1 votes

You're hilarious. They didn't listen at all. They got harassed, ridiculed, annoyed, and forced to do something because players were probably leaving. No one really wants to deal with it anymore. This game is going downhill fast and the only thing I enjoy about the game now is the lore and artwork. I can care less about the game now. I only play when a friend asks. Before I was on the game everyday. LoL is just not fun to play anymore and it is more than just 1 problem. This is a buildup of many problems over the years that Developers just refuse to deal with.

MaverickXVII1 votes

oh yeah they heard you. Now will they fix it is the question.

Saianna1 votes

I remember how we thanked Repertoir for talking with us... Which lasted untill he got promoted. Then He turned into Meddler 2.0 with "i know better" syndrome.

Do **NOT **be fooled by "oh meddler noticed our pain!11". It's just PR words with little to no will for change behind them. How do I know it? Cause he/they made few other texts of how they observe and want to change and fix and shit. Nothing changes for better.

Meep Man1 votes

I'm pretty sure they've always been listening, it's just fear mongering, rage, and baseless assumptions are the new hot trend in LoL recently.

Keiros191 votes

If hundreds or thoudands people question your intelligence you better do something about that. Thats why they try to fix things.
