Swain isn't intended as a support.

Swain isn't intended as a support and was never intended to be one, original Swain wasn't intended to be one and if you look up the rework roadmap it tells you what they were going for.

A Mage Juggernaut/Raidboss that could does and fight in the thick of a fight at close range, and fight against those that were a head with a high cost/high cooldown ult.

At the moment he was "Stomping botlane" A champion that was designed to be a raidboss/mage juggernaut like nasus/darius/ect is a support botlane.

No one see's any issue with this?

That he is mostly viable as a support now? Usually a Iceborn gauntlet tank/on-hit support?

Just because this is working in LCS and he can work well with a team, it DOESN'T MEAN HE IS A GOOD CHAMPION ON HIS OWN and can make plays on his own, like he is intended to be able to.

And like he could before pre-rework, when he actually worked far better towards the end they were going for with this rework.

Soraka isn't meant to be a mid laner but can be played mid with good results.

Thresh isnt meant to be an ADC but he can be played as such in mid, top, or bottom to fairly good results.

Blitzcrank isn't meant to be a AP exploder of squishes..... but he can be played Mid just fine as such. Ive played him top as AD, mid as AP, ive seen him AD jungle with fairly good results....

Brand was not initially a support, but he is played more as support than mid.

I mean.... the list can go on here honestly. Swain has ways been able to be a pseudo support (sometimes more supporting rather than psuedo). He has a form of strong CC and has a way of either going in and surviving while soaking up damage (similar to tanky supports..... like Alistar for one example).

Seriously. If needed i can explain probably 100 champions at least that can be played in an off role and that actually works in more than a small number of times as to why. I really hope it is not needed because i have enough issues with long posts as it is from my phone.

The problems that arise when you only look at stats and not the context they exist in. Swain is 'alright', Morgana is 'fine', Yasuo is 'fine', everyone is 'fine' or 'alright'. I would go into fundamentally bad design choices that every single one of these characters have (some obviously worse than others), but I prefer to not stress myself out about a game I don't play.

I feel like he just wouldn’t be satisfying as a support. I’m a Swain main and leading the charge, blowing up enemies and 1 v 2’ing then feels way better than playing support. I cringe when one of my friends plays him as support in norms.

Morgana wasn't a support initially.

Most marksmen were not intended to go to top lane, and Irelia wasn't intended to go mid, Urgot not intended for jungle, and Vi was not intended for jungle, etc, etc.
