Katarina vs Ahri

I just came out of a game (http://matchhistory.euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/EUW1/1733750260/32241693) where I am just baffled how Ahri failed to 1v1 Katarina. I could see the Ahri was having trouble in the match, since lee sin had already ganked her lane several times, and she showed her frustration in chat. I said to her that all she needs to do is E straight after she uses her's and use Q to poke, staying far enough back when on cooldown. If that fails, she can still use her ultimate to disengage. After I said that, she still died 3 times in a 1v1 scenario. I talked to her more after the game where she claimed that she couldn't E fast enough to stop the damage, to which I could only respond that she should use E faster. However, it occured to me that Katarina can deal more damage than I could expect, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is unrealistic of me to expect that Ahri to E after Katarina has commited, before Katarina gets the kill? What reaction time would be required for Ahri to successfully disengage?

Her charm does have a travel time.

I personally do not own Ahri, but I do Yasuo. His windwall disables Kat's ult in a similar manner, and I can attest that it IS entirely possible to prevent the majority of Kat's dmg if I react quick enough. (Side Note, Yasuo has one of the lowest base MR in the game.)

Perhaps she lost because she did not have smart cast on, or were at a level disadvantage.

Another possible factor was that even if the Ahri manages to interrupt Kat's ult, Kat can still put out better bursts than her; especially since Kat is also ahead.

As a Kat main, I routinely beat down Ahri. You just bait out her E or harass till she's about half down and then just ult on her. Their reaction time has to be lightning quick and even then you can usually finish her off.

Lower elo though so I would expect Plat/Diamond to be more competitive in this matchup.

To me she just got outplayed.landing her charm on a kat that will e behind you and ult isn't difficult. Ahri has all the tools to beat kat with cc and mobility ultimate. And scales significantly better than she does. Post rework all kats damage is in her r, and good kat players make plays to ensure her ult goes off. Ahri can always disengage with her ult if she misses her charm, and then re-engage when kats ult is on CD. There is also taking into consideration kat was probably snowballing at that point and generally speaking once an assassin begins to snowball, you get rekt.

kata bought mejai's and dfg. I don't know how many stacks she had, but you did say she was fed, and just the burst from QEW should bring ahri dangerously low for an ignite to kill her
