The main reason Riot is forcing 5 Positional Ranks for 2019.

Knowing that "Runes Reforged" failed for both competitive and casual players and that people are leaving League, Riot's next plan is to create a battle-royale gametype.

"Nexus Blitz" is Riot's desperate attempt to create a game-mode aimed for casual players for its fast paced, RNG gameplay.

If Nexus Blitz becomes a permanent game mode, the population will split causing Auto-filled games to be more prevalent in Ranked/Normal SR games. So, Riot is creating 5 Positional Ranks to hold players hands when they get frequently auto-filled.

the main reason is to improve match making quality by factoring in people's roles

the issue is the social aspect... maybe it should be hidden somehow idk

it's going to turn into "haha, you're diamond X role but only gold in y. terrible!" it's silly but you know it's coming

Nexus Blitz wont be popular for long.

once people figure out a "meta" to it and start figuring out which champs are op in Turbo Mode uh... I mean "Blitz" mode.. we will end up having to get a ban system ( or ridiculous champ specific nerfs) and all this other stuff just like AR URF or other RGM's that slowly sucks the fun out of it OR the playerbase itself will make the mode miserable by tryhard picking the same OP champs.

In a wacky teamfight focused gold inflated snowball rewarding mode I wonder who might be good.. hmmmmmm..
