So about MMR (With math :D)

I havent read much about MMR so please if I get something wrong do tell. From my impression ranked mmr and normals mmr do not mix. This is a mistake. My first ranked matches were when I didnt even have runes. So I played normals for a very long time until I got both more ruins and more champions. Now I have over 700 wins in normals. So assuming each game is 3/4ths of an hour and that I have roughly the same amount of losses due to fifty fifty chance (which in reality I would have more losses due to pre level thirty games) I have roughly 1050 hours of league experience or 43 days of league playing. (talk about no life now that I have added it up)

Ok so I have a lot of experience. Why does this matter? Mostly because of who I am paired with due to my ranked mmr. Take my most recent game for example. My top laner went 55 cs for the entire thirty minute game. Less than two cs a minute. Meanwhile his laner had over 150. I cannot carry someone like that. Sorry I can't. Perhaps the argument for climbing is being able to carry but I doubt many people could. He had 130 games. Doing the same math he has 117 hours of league or 4 days of league experience.

The idea of you deserving to climb is when your teams are equal and YOU are the one that tips the scales. All your lanes theoretically go even and you are the one that makes the difference. So yes I am supposed to make the difference. But this guy further tips the scales to where I have to make even more of a difference than in a regular game. It makes it so if I theoretically had won this game I should have been compensated even further because of how much more I tipped the scale (should. not saying the lp system should be changed or complaining but theoretically should)

So for me the question remains. Why does ranked MMR seem to be completely unaffected by ranked MMR when clearly the experience gap is there? If the point of MMR is to close that gap why does it still seem to exist?

in normal, I could try something I'm not so good at since my normal mmr isn't as high as my rank mmr, and I could practice. if normal mmr and ranked mmr was the same, I would get punished for playing someone I'm new with in ranked even if I play it in normal.

also, with normal, people don't go try hard as much, it's there to also have fun and relax a bit. if they were shared, people wouldn't paly normal since there wouldn't be a point and the mmr is harder to see that way.

I'm also going to include that you won't have that one player in all of your games, but you will have you in all of your games.

I never said they should be the same. I mean they should influence them. The fact my normals mmr is so much higher than my ranked mmr makes normals more fun for me because people know what theyre doing. So why is my ranked mmr not at least higher simply due to my normals mmr being higher? You cant deny that someone who has played four days of league with someone who has played 40 days of league is not an acceptable skill gap.

I could agree with normal mmr following ranked mmr a bit more (I think it might actually since I've heard some stories, but nothing really has been proven). if you enjoy normal, I would say just stick to them. do what you enjoy. only real reason to do ranked is to get challenged and if you enjoy it.

I would like to climb so I have some tangible "In your face I'm better than you" for my irl friends >-:)

I think its really just a no win situation. first, they are 100% separate like you think. I'm not sure there is any good way to handle it. Many people use the separate queues for different reasons. They play more serious in ranked and not necessarily goof off in normal's but play more relaxed. IMO that mostly stems from the best way to climb generally being to focus your play on as few roles and champs as possible.

Time or games played aren't very good metrics for anything. People have vastly different skill level when they start.

I do wish there was some connection between ranked and normal MMR, usually the problem is actually the opposite of what you are experiencing. People hit 30 and only play ranked and rarely ever play normals so when they do they have the normal MMR of a fresh 30.

The same applies because it makes for a bad experience in norms as well. If all you play is ranked then you play a norm you curb stomp the normal players and do something stupid like mejais with all rabadons or something. It creates a negative people who play norms for fun simply for getting curb stomped into oblivion
