I've been seeing some people freaking out over Twin Shadows being brought back

Since the reveal of the AP item pass, lots of people have been talking about how efficient Twin Shadows is and how everyone's going to want this item now. Let's talk about some straight facts and set this discussion on the right footing before this topic gets too out of control.

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/4/4b/Twin_Shadows_item.png

It's only got 1% more movespeed than it had before it was removed.

In terms of stats and build path it is EXACTLY the same as it was before it was removed.

The only major buff to it is that the ghosts can last up to 5 seconds rather than 2.5 seconds that they did before the item was removed, but this comes with also having a longer cooldown on its active (90 seconds as apposed to the previous 60 seconds).

If someone is going to build this, it's going to be because they want to roam or chase and if you don't buy it as your first item then most of your chances to roam will be gone by the time you finish it. It also doesn't give mana, which makes it less appealing as a first buy, enhancing the trade off of roaming potential vs lane strength.

Also, something people are conveniently forgetting is that people didn't buy Twin Shadows much when it was out before with the exact same stats (except for 1% less movespeed), why would they suddenly start rushing it first item now when they didn't back then?

If I were riot I'd make it an AP item for enchanters like Janna Sona Lulu or for mage supports like Zyra Brand who want to bring utility to the team without sacrificing AP.

(Kind of like what they did with frost queens)

That's exactly what it is lol

That's exactly what it is, and for Zyra , Morgana , and Brand , item 3151 is getting a HUGE buff;

It's getting targetted buff like item 3001 's aura to targets in combat, AND the % damage is converted to Max HP from Current HP.

In other words, Liandra can kill now, and on Brand that will do between 20% - 28% of a target's HP just by activating Burn, not including the damage of the hits that activate it.

On Zyra Liandra's is going to be really deadly, because each plant hit reprocs it, and often vs certain champs, each plant can hit 8 or so times before it fizzles. In other words, on Max, It's just going to raid their HP. That means Zyra is going to be able to kill Juggernauts.

I wonder if tanks will start building Liandries regularly with this change.

I'm pretty sure these will:

Amumu Galio Rammus Ornn

Amumu Galio already did, sometimes even Rammus

Yes. but now it will be so core they can't live without it. It's going to increase their damage by about 10k a game. It won't be item 3 or 4. It'll be Item 2. They are the kings of sustained combat, so that new passive will just synergize perfectly with them, while the max HP damage will just super carry their normally 10+ second fights.

You forget that it can also be used as a means of scouting an area which in some ways could be really useful on some supports like Janna who can use all of the stats to great effect.

Fisherman Fizz also said he liked to use this item on a regular basis although I am not sure if it was only for roaming or also for scouting an area.

I don't expect this item to become the must get items on Every AP but I can see it having reason enough to be considered on some champs.

I will certainly love having the item option available to me in the support role but I also don't think it will be a rush item in all situations. The biggest abuse cases I can see are mages like Brand and Zyra rushing it as supports since they don't need to worry as much about mana since they aren't farming with their spells.

The main key is it's another move speed item without removing one. It was removed when item 3504 item 3285 were introduced.

Now Mages will have 4 move speed items, not 3

1 @ 8% 2 @ 7% 1 @ 10%

That's a potential 32% move speed bonus in items, and many of them work together.

That's gonna be extremely viable on Janna

That's another problem entirely though. I'm addressing the complaint that every mid laner is going to want to rush this item.

Azadethe1 votes

Nah. They'll want to rush item 3003 which is arguably stronger than rushing Morellonomicon ever was. Or item 3030 Or item 3285

And, no one will really know which they are doing, because they will go Lost chapter (unless they Tear first)

Let's not forget that it now gives matching AP with the competition, which had previously outclassed it. Now, what it lacks is mana/magic pen, but it'll be able to compete with the other AP items as far as rush-ability and gold efficiency.

I thought pretty much everything in this iteration is basically the same as before it was taken down back in preseason 6.

It had always given AP, movespeed, and a bit of CDR. Its active CD had always been 90 seconds.

People forgot that FQC was rushed by midlaners, toplaners, and even junglers alike because it also gave mana regen in addition to AP and the utility it offered. Twin Shadows never had mana regen, so it likely won't be THE rush item, especially AP itemization got a nice little revamp.
