How S7 proves Riot doesn't care.
I called this literally years ago. After riot continually failed to implement features that even back then were shameful didn't exist in the game yet. But back then I said one thing, and I said it many times:
"Riot is being lazy and complacent because they have a monopoly on Mobas. If a game shows up that can compete with LoL and take business away from them, I guarantee you it will be less than a year until Riot suddenly wakes up and starts talking about how they're suddenly doing all the things they should have done years ago."
And then what happened? Overwatch. Overwatch was big enough to take business from LoL. People fed up with Riot's gross incompetence and lazyness left LoL in droves to go play overwatch instead. And now LOOK WHAT MAGICALLY JUST HAPPENED!
Less than a year later: "Hey guys! Here's that replay you wanted!" "Hey guys! Here's that sandbox mode you wanted!" "Hey guys! Solo que is back even though we said we wouldn't bring it back!" "Hey guys! Here's that new client that doesn't suck!"
WHAT. AN. AMAZING. COINCIDENCE.
Don't get me wrong, these things needed to happen and I'm glad they finally are. But my point is that the community needs to not get disillusioned about WHY riot finally pulled their heads out of their asses. They didn't do it because they care about you. They didn't do it because of any sense of competence or integrity. They didn't do it because they care about the quality of their game or about their community. They did it because they're losing business. That's it. That is all. You are a wallet to them, nothing more. Remember that when they trot out some song-and-dance BS about how they give a damn about their players. It's just jingling keys in your face so they can take your money.
Hey Riot. Maybe if you were even somewhat competent in the last 3 years about actually giving a crap about your game, you wouldn't have gotten hit so hard by overwatch in the first place.
