What goes through your mind when you pick a champion?
Personally, I'm like, "I really want to play ____ right now."
Do you guys pick consistently for meta, or for fun?

What the team needs. Which is another way of saying Tank.
Haha, right? One thing you'll never hear during champ select: hey, I want to play a tanky champ. X, can you please play a carry champ so our team has enough damage?
This man gets it.
+1, and that is so fucking annoying.
Listen, I main Tanks and Juggernauts. I like them, they're fun and all. But once in a while I'd like to be able to pick Fiora or Tryndamere without gimping my team because no one else picked a frontline. Gaaah...
Sometimes it's 'I wanna box', so I play someone I haven't got a box with yet.
Other times it's 'I wanna mastery lvl 7', in which case I play that champion.
Otherwise I play whoever feels fun.
i look at my name and then whisperr "gg" to myself
I pick whatever i want. If i were playing ranked id be more strategic tho.
Look at Comp, ours for synergy and enemy for matchups, Then select some one I feel I'm good with that fits well. When that's not an option default to Bard who can do a little bit of everything.
Depends on the situation.. lose three games in a row and it's "I hate people. Teemo jg it is."
Same thing that always goes through my mind. Lock in my mains and ponder on how I'm not Bronze 5 yet.

lmao
I am a one trick pony player. So, after I make my pick, my first thought is... I hope he don't get banned. My second thought is... it really don't matter, my champ is so freakin nerfed, my team is probably better off if my champ gets banned.
Shift al mani main?

I wonder how garbage my team will be this time....
"This is probably a bad idea."
I pick
because I can do everything.
sheilds, speed ups, slow downs, AoE damage, sustained damage, single target deletion combo. etc etc
as well as not have any really bad matchups

Syndra is a really bad matchup for ori.
Syndra is a really bad matchup for ori.
orianna takes barrier and gets a negatron.. syndra becomes wortheless till she gets void. as like a third item. Orianna has utility and her ult, she can build somewhat defensively (early negatron after lost chapter) with syndra you are worthless if you can't 1 shot your opponent (i don't mean literally 1 shot but when you press R they better die or it's wasted)

Statistics show otherwise. Ori loses that lane 58% of the time. that show's syndra is a VERY big counter.
if im top and we need damage
if im top and team asks for a tank
no matter what
if support
Nothing. I play three roles, one champion for each role...no thought goes into it...
I go with my tried and true picks dependent on the role I am playing.
As for the thought process, it's something like this:
"Make sure to double check your Runes and Masteries." There's been many a time where I've gone with ALL the wrong Runes and Masteries for some of my champions.
I think about all the bullshit I deal with and realize i need to queue for botlane as that is the #1 reason i get shutdown as a very successful top laner (in lane)
So now I second pick top and main
because no matter how shitty your support is you cant die unless you mess up real bad
I try to pick whatever fits the team best. Sometimes it's just a craving for a certain champ but especially when I'm bot or support, I want good synergy and to counter my enemy. I don't give a crap about meta though. You went draven adc? I take Jarvan support. We need a tank? Braum top it is. Enemy mid went melee assassin? Naut mid here we go.
I want to play nocturne but ill get shit on by
and
so I don't :/
OneTrick
My team need a Tank?
My team need a AP?
My team need a Bruiser?
My team need a Peeler?
is ALWAYS the answer, even if he is not the answer.
it is usually a question, depending on my role either "how about a magic trick?" or "how about a drink?"
:bring it on bitches
:UNLOAD DA TOAD UNBENCH DAT KENCH
sup : instructions unclear, panic picked , fuck my life
"What does my team need? A tank? CC? Damage? AP / AD?"
"What does their team do? Are they relying on an engage? Do they have a lot of CC and kiting?"
But sometimes I just pick what sounds like fun.
"Oh shit, I have ___? Guess I'm trying them out today."
Free win
locks in lulu
I'm basically a
1 trick in ranked, rocking that 69% winrate xd
But in norms it's just whoever I feel like, not a metaslave
I pick one of my comfort picks that is safe against the enemy or has a good synergy with my team, if I have to blindpick I play Ashe

I mainly play normals and i just think of what stupid shit i can come up with today. latest games include: Crit Darius top. AP SONA MID AP Blitz Top ADC Twisted Fate
Who do i want to play and what does the teamchomp need to be somewhat competent. meta slavery isnt my style
I just go with what I feel like playing. Sometimes I pick a specific champion hoping a teammate has a matching skin (Star Guardian Janna or Lux with Jinx, PROJECT: Ashe with Leona). I'm also not much of a Xayah player but if she isn't banned or picked already and my support wants Rakan, I'll go for Xayah in that case.
I go with what I want to play... unless I get countered. then I try to go with something I know will stand a better chance against that. If I play Ranked, I'd try my best to fill the need for the team, but at the same time I'd want the same thought to be put into what I pick in regards to the rest of my team. If I pick a champ with a high mana cost that REALLY could use blue buff, I'd hope that our mid and jungler would pick champs that are generally not mana hungry.
I pick
because I like sucking people dry.
No but seriously I like the champion so I pick him almost every time unless I'm too bored too play him.
"I think this champion completes the needs of our team, but it's not going to matter anyway because our mid/adc will get caught out"
is the champion im hovering shaco?
no.
pick shaco
i generally pick what i have fun playing and am good at. i have a few champs i use for each role but it doesnt hurt, say for instance, if you're last pick in select and see their whole team, to avoid picking a champ that will be useless vs enemy comp. but ya pick what you have fun playing imo. ill even go further and say just play to have fun and you'll climb more.

I feel like wanting to play for fun today...
enemy locks in yasuo
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
What runs through my mind ? I always always hope I get the team that doesn't feed. I don't care about counter picks, meta or any of that shit because it's not what decides a game for me. What always decides is who feeds. I've seen troll pick shit like Riven bot with Shaco support win games because the enemy team feeds. I've seen people counter-pick and still feed their ass off. Feeding is what decides games. Meta and counter picks and all that only work at Master and up. Not even Diamond. Diamond players for all their hoohaa still feed their asses off just like Bronze and Silvers.
I'm with you I gotta say. I have so many champs and I want to play all of them and I keep forgetting how fun they are. Tho meta and fun are actually pretty similar. Meta=wins or busted, wins and busted=fun to me at least.
ya boy doesn't ride the meta - don't be a meta whore
I pick Jhin if available, otherwise something like Ashe. I like being able to enable my teammates, really dislike playing champions that only bring damage.
When I play support I pick for the lane.
When I'm picking my one trick: "It's just another peaceful day on Summoner's Rift."
When I'm not picking my one trick but is still supporting: "I'm going to play badly."
When I'm not supporting: "I'm going to int and I hope my teammates are smarter than I am."
"I really hope I don't have to take a shit halfway through the game"
I'm the same. But many times I can decide who I want to play so I look and see if we need tanky, cc, dmg, or utility to help narrow it down :P
