THUNDERLORDS.

am not joking.

here are the mastery options right now

you crit. you go bloodlust. or frevor

you use auto attacks and no crit. on hit builds. you go frevor.

anything else. thundelords.

sups and tanks can pick other keystones if they don't plan to do damage. but DFT is not good at all compared to TL. by the time you have enough AD/AP for DFT to scale. you already burst down enemies before the ticks start.

bottom line. nerf brand. and buff DFT back so champs like can use it optimally. its far too nerfed for DoT and AOE effects. which the only champs that use it. are the ones that have DoT. but they don't realize that it does like 1/4 the damage and TL does full damage.

I think by design the ferocity keystones need to outscale thunderlords. In general they do.

The problem is the full effect of the ferocity keystones are locked behind more specific triggers than "hit the enemy champion 3 times". For warlords you need to build crit and like extra in combat sustain... For fervor you need a lot of attack speed as a melee champion or need a lot of freeshooting time as a ranged dps champ. For DFT you need to be a damage champion that can output persistent damage effects most likely in an aoe without dying... All this considering thunderlords and precision are often still better early game.

There are champions out there that cannot make great use of any ferocity keystone and default to thunderlords.

... DFT being niche in functionality... with the flat pen being better than % pen for magic users 90% of the time...

Incorrect. His highest winrate keystone as a support is Thunderlords. His highest winrate mastery as a Mid laner is Deathfire. Considering that Deathfire scales harder with AP and Thunderlords scales harder with levels, it's not a shock that the version of Brand that doesn't get much gold is better with Thunderlords. Consider that Thunderlords is also stronger early, and winning early is the biggest reason you pick Brand support. Of course his winrate is higher with Thunderlords in those circumstances.
