Is alistar top good?

I played a few games and it seems pretty good tbh. It is really fun and I won lane against things like garen and Darius. He can A: win any duel with his ult B: great teamfighting C: becomes a monster of a bruiser in the late game D: good sustain throughout the game E: beats juggernauts since he can headbutt them when they engage and he can sustain through their damage and duel them late game with his ult.

Wouldnt titanic hydra be better for him now? item 3748 (aso comes with an AA reset) for wave clear, instead of stattik?

And then you build item 3742 instead of frozen mallet?

Statikk was the old build in s4 so it wasn't odd at all.

I just wasn't sure; I don't think of Alistar as someone who scales particularly well with attack speed, crit chance, or waveclear.

He has good base AD and his ultimate provides a significant amount of AD to synergize with crit.

That build was previously popular since Alistar could autoattack enemies after using Headbutt. This means that he could single-handedly win trades by Headbutting them and then hitting them with a Spellblade + Shiv autoattack in 1v1s. Enemies couldn't really retaliate against him (since they were knocked away) and he could just Pulverize them and walk away if they tried to force a trade afterwards.

Wasn't that build mostly used to take advantage of Alistar being able to autoattack after a Headbutt though?

Headbutt + Spellblade + Shiv proc gave quite a bit of damage for a quick trade while laning (and the attack speed and crit chance works well with the AD from his ult).

But it does help him push a wave and ether get back to his team or help clear in front of turrets.

Top Alistar pretty much died when they made so you can't AA after the W cast, but before the knockback. Do I still think it's good though? Probably works if you know how to do it. He gets kited easily, of course. And his damage isn't anything crazy. But if you need a sustain tank who can be safe in lane, I don't see why not.
